Filled the tank today...first fill up since I got the bullet. Did the calculations and the mpg on paper is 62...highest I've been recording, and it's been 11 days since my last visit to the gas station, which was the highest gap in days I've had between fill ups.
I did 51 miles today after i filled the tank, ECO off, all side roads with a good amount of heavy hills to climb and some wet grounds. My mpg on the ECO screen was 71.3mpg when ending the run. I peaked at 72.4mpg at one point during my trip. I semi-gunned it at one point...just pedal down 1/2 way to floor...the car took off like a rocket. Was a nice feeling. Maybe next fill up i'll floor it to feel warp speed . Usually my mpg is high after i fill the tank...so i anticipate the 71.3mpg going down significantly as the gas gauge goes down, but we'll see. This full tank will be pure Bullet, unlike my last tank which had the OEM for the beginning of it. Just wanted to keep yas posted with some recordings. Looking forward to seeing how this tank does.
BTW...i ordered the VVTI filter with O-ring from Toyota directly...should be getting it this Saturday and slapping the new one in at that time. Cost me $11 for the filter and the O-ring. If my filter is currently clogged, the new one will help even more with the function of the Bullet and mpg. I'll see. My only hope is that the old one comes out easy and the new one goes in without any issues. I asked one of the mechanic attendants at Toyota if this is something they are familiar with. At first he didn't know what it was...then he said they never really change them out. I asked why but he couldn't answer me...didn't know, even after i suggested that they could be clogged in some cars. Found his answer was a bit weird.
    Anyway...read yas soon. (y)

    Hi CSuirp!

That is awesome! The big 70+ came really quick! I think we can all feel your enthusiasm!
I'm happy that you got to use the power band of the Red Bullet also. It is really nice to know you are doing superb!
Throttle happy hasn't got to you yet I hope! Keep up the good throttle management and maybe you will challenge the millage run too this tank?

I sent the Red Bullet out for Bobzchemist today.

I will update on the ECO mode by the end of the week. It is showing some really odd behaviours and numbers. I can't tell until i get a few normal runs out of it. I went on a few 30km+ skips right after i gassed up from the 901km challenge.

Keep us posted on your average! And don't forget to treat yourself to some of that power!

Wow. I am impressed! Very cool to see what has been done over the past few days. How does one join in on the excitement? How can I get one? I have a 2013 Prius C (U.S.A.).

We have the same year vehicle! I believe yours would be made in Japan also?

Thanks, @CSuirp ! I just placed an order for one of these! I just paid for the standard $10 shipping, so it might take a long time to get to my mailbox. Very excited! I just installed an Injen S.R.I. and a set of Imola wheels over the past month! This will be a fantastic addition!

Awesome Wild. Max T. has been super kind and helpful to all of us for making the Red Bullet available for purchase. Feel free to ask him anything regarding the Bullet and he'll get to answering ya. I installed mine not long ago and I saw immediate results, as others have shared. We won't be participating in any Indi 500 but it certainly gives us an improvement with mpg and some restored power so we can keep up with all those flicking us the bird.
I have no idea what Injen S.R.I is but sounds good. :D I'm elementary when it comes to aftermarket things and technical details...but interested in learning. I see the rims you have on ur ride...they look good. I was actually considering taking the rims off that I currently have and buying lighter ones for better style as well as reduce weight for mpg purposes. Big expense for me...and if I do the rims, I'm considering bigger tires (since I have the stock smaller ones that came with the Trim3 edition). Of course this opens up the wallet even more...but lighter rims are so tempting. I'm going to do a search in PriusChat for rims that others installed and recommend.
I've learned much from PriusChat members. I think you will enjoy it too. It's nice that we all have access to help from others when we need it.

Yeah! @Max Taiwan is the man! He did an excellent job with supplying us with all of the information, and even the product! I learned so much from just reading this, and could not resist not having one of these after seeing all of the data!

I am extremely satisfied with my Injen short ram air intake! There's a slight growl to the engine now, and the car "breathes" so much easier now - allowing it to accelerate with a bit more power. It will pair greatly with the new solenoid! Here are links about the intake's performance and the differences of a variety of air intake systems....
    Injen SP2091 Review: Injen's SP2091 2013 Prius Air Intake. An in-Depth Review
"Air Intake System Explained": Aftermarket Air Intake Systems Explained | Shortram.com

I was so lucky with those Imola rims!!! I got them off a guy on Craigslist for dirt cheap! They happened to fit my tires from my stock steel rims, and they only weigh 12.0 lbs.! So, I switched out my bent "steelies" for a pair of fantastic Imolas from a guy's well-kept Mini Cooper! I am just gonna play with a couple different tire pressures to get the kind of ride I want; I'd like to get some more sportier tires after my warranty for my Energy Savers with Costco ends.

My aftermarket wheel journey could not have been possible or nearly as easy as it was without the good guys on PRIUSchat! PRIUSchat is opening the gate for other performance upgrades for my Prius "Clementina" such as the Red Bullet and the APEXi Smart Accel Controller (need to save up for this one)!

    Welcome to the forum!

I am happy you are here! You sparked some interest in our member CSuirp!
He is one of the earliest member to receive a Red Bullet. We did get significant increase in power and MPG in the beginning but the MPG was still falling short of our expectations. Now we seem to have CSuirp on target. His MPG shot upwards of roughly 12-15 miles after we switched off the ECO model.
Right now I am running the ECO mode to see what is going on, comparing apples to apples.

Seriously. @CSuirp asked all the right questions and kept the topics coming. PRIUSchat was a great place to hold such a discussion, because a good number of Prius/auto mechanics enthusiasts were online too. Thanks for answering all of our questions, @Max Taiwan! I hate to see an interesting forum go nowhere and die!

I was actually wondering why the disengagement of ECO mode was so stressed, because fuel efficient driving may be a goal to some. I am curious to see what results you get.

Hey there Wild! Ah yeah, the short air intake. I remember looking into this a while back for my other car, never did it. I read up on the links you provided. I went to Injen's website but no results showed up that are available for my car...2014 Prius c trim 3. Maybe the Injen intake is applicable to your 2013 model. I'll research it in PriusChat more to see what others say too. Sounds good though :)

Yeah, cool you got better rims for dirt cheap and worked well for ya. 12lbs...wow. Total deal! I read up on other threads bout the rims and seems it's complicated since changing them can take away from mpg if we go bigger in size and such. Maybe i'll look into it more later. I may actually have light rims as it is now...and if that's the case, i probably won't change them (they aren't the stock steel ugly ones).

hey Max! I got a quick question about the Red Bullet that popped in my mind today. The part was manufactured in Taiwan, in about 22 C degrees (71.6 F) somewhat year round, according to Google info. The weather where i'm at ranges from like -23 C (-10 F) from Dec-Feb and up to say 40 C (105 F) at times from May-Aug. Can be harsh. Has testing been done on the Bullet in these extreme temps and functioned flawlessly? Just curious since I really haven't used the part in those temps yet...but the 40 C is creeping up on me and just want to make sure the part can withstand the fire breathing days as well as the sub-freezing days. If this is something you covered in a previous post, forgive me and refresh my memory.
    Thanks man!

    Hi CSuirp!

Sorry for the delay. I wanted to double check something before I gave you an answer.

Aluminum alloy become stronger in cold temperatures and the melting point is around 660 Celsius.

In tropical Taiwan and with our addiction to air condition, you don't need to worry about the heat resistance. The manufacture said they torture tested the Red Bullet in a taxi for 2 years.
Mostly in full on tropical summer with full AC and ICE running on hours without breaks.
I was more concerned about the cold properties actually, but it seems we are in the clear, if your engine block can take it, then so can the Red Bullet. Just pay attention to installation especially on the Prius C, really tight in that area, best to give the air box a pull and remember not to damage it. If you have a mechanic install it, watch over him like a hawk!

On the high temperature end. Engine oil circulates at around 130 Celsius maxing out around 140-150 C. Our O-Ring is rated up to 200 Celsius and our aluminum alloy will have no problem with the temperature, plenty of room for a good squeeze!

    Great question CSuirp!

The manufacturer would also want me to add that the surface treatment of The Red Bullet enhances its ability to transfer heat and also increase oil flow. This was one of the reasons he was very against lasering the bullet on the red surface. The surface is very fine compared to the surface of the original part.

Anyone attempt the VVTI oil filter replacement in a Gen 3? I know it’s easy to reach in the Gen 2.

Perfect. I took a cursory look at the service manual and if I read it correctly, it appears to involve removal of the valve cover and a bracket holding the cams and 2 head bolts.
