Trading in my 2015 Prius with 184,000+ miles for a 2019 Prius LE and thought I would share some mileage and maintenance info.

    Random thoughts:

-48.27 MPG over 178,445 miles mostly highway miles.
    -Oil change every ~5K miles.
-Transmission, coolant, battery coolant, spark plugs at 100K
    -Tires @56K and 131K
-App used was Road Trip for iOS
-Started a job in 2015 that had a 180 mile round trip daily commute. About 80% is highway.
-Most of time, I topped off the tank every day at lunch.
-Mainly set the cruise at 73 as the traffic on this highway is very light.

    Any questions just ask.

    Thanks,

Any major repair? Engine oil used, and rate of oil consumption?

Excellent post. Was it dealer maintained?

CR94: No repairs and it wasn't using any oil at trade in.

Grit: Thanks! Yes, it was dealer maintained.

Just picked up the new LE... time to start the charts all over again!

    Thanks,

Sweet! No oil consumption? (curious cause i have a 2015 ct200h)

As far as dealer maintained...i wouldn't hold that to such a high praise. for me, that would be a negative as most dealer techs are just kids. Sure there are some good ones but for peace of mind I like knowing what's being done to my car. for simple tasks that our cars require, such as oil, plug changes, brake changes, that's best to DIY. these cars are quite simple to work on as far as standard maintenance goes. For me, I always do all my own work on all my cars at all times, when possible. The exception is when i need my tires balanced.. only cause i don't have a $50,000 machine.

but i understand some people don't have skill or time to do work themselves... i'd highly consider it though. save big bucks on stupid easy tasks. =)

Or some people who don’t own a house w/no access to a garage so no DIY is possible.

Do you mind sharing financials? Specifically what you were offered for trade in, and what you paid for the new Prius?

I also bought a 2015 Prius to tackle a 170 mile round trip commute. I did that for 3 years and now I'm doing 110 miles per day. She's closing in on 140k. My maintenance history looks a lot like yours, nothing done so far but preventive maintenance.

I've started to play with the idea of getting something newer, just about the only thing stopping me is that my car is still running like a tank.

@DoubleA did you have 15" or 17" wheels?

Addendum: Just realized, from the title, it's a level 2, with 15" wheels.

Nice post! Your nice cyclical pattern of up and down must corresponds to high summer and low winter. Did you use snow tires on it? But wow, 180 miles commute every day. You must love your job... or maybe your house. ;)

I had Gen3 2015 Two just like yours before trading it for 2017 PRIME. My Gen3 had life time mpg ~52, but with only 30K miles on it. I should have kept it longer, but I just had to have a Plug-in. How are you liking your brand new Gen4 Prius?
