Made a video because it’s easier to just demonstrate the problem. Excuse the r/Prius address.

The car is off, but on rare occasions the action of the fob being plugged in or pulled out at the wrong time during shut down can create glitches in ignition immobilizer. If you have an OBD2 reader and DR. Prius App or Toyota Techstream you'll probably have an error code related to immobilizer with numbers 799 in it. Had this happen to me last week due to a bad 12v connection... No need to worry about the details... Just disconnect your 12v battery for 5 minutes and connect again and the whole system will reset and hopefully this is just a one-time random glitch you can forget about.

Welcome to PC. You said, "Foot on the brake. Press the power button." Try NOT putting your foot on the brake and just shutting off the car normally. Not positive that's your problem, but pressing the brake while powering off is not the right way to power off the car.

Thanks Jerry. I actually normally don’t press the brake, but assumed I pressing it was the “more proper” way, thus I did it in the video. Either way, I let the car run for a while last night in my garage and now it’s turning off just fine.

Very strange behavior. Glad it's better now.

maybe a low 12v battery, or sporadic combo meter problem.
