    Oh, I see. Those are squire shaped for the jack stands. Yeah, they should work much better than round slotted pads I have. I should order those for myself. Thanks. The round ones with slot works OK, but it does not want to stay on the top of jack stand, and if it falls off. Well, being round... it rolls away. Sometimes quite far away. :sick:

    I might get the floor jack one, too. But later. Probably wouldn't use it as much, but maybe for a quick tire change or something.

    I'm somewhat confused on what those actually do. If you lift a car with a jack with a rubber pad, on the pinch folds of the metal, how is that different than having the pinch in a slot? Isn't the load still applied to the edge with either the adapter or the jack? All of my cars have a reinforced lift point along each side, with extra metal alongside the sheet metal. Are these adapters intended to be used at those points, or at unreinforced points along the same fold?

    My Prime has two hard points on each side of the body, about 6-12 inches from each wheel well. That's where I would put either a lift or a jackstand.

    Rubber pad prevents metal to metal contact thus protect scratches on the paints.

    The red metal device shown in the picture has only a hard phenolic pad in the bottom, and metal along the sides. Won't that scrape up the car paint more than a jack would (or even better, a jack with a rubber pad)? What keeps the device centered on the pinch with clearance along the sides?

    And, is the gap in the middle wide enough to fit over the hard points on the body, or is this designed to go at the soft points?

    This keeps things centered on the jack without the need to make something ;).

    No damage resulted from the use of these:).

    But YMMV(y).

    I may be completely obtuse, but what "things" are you centering on the jack? I'd sure like to see a picture of this in action on a Prime.

    I don't have the metal slotted pad. Never seen it before this thread. I have round slotted rubber pads for jack stands and for a floor jack. As I was mentioning above, round one tends to fall off and being round, it rolls away. That's why I want square rubber ones Jerry ordered for my jack stands.

    I understand what the rubber ones do. I ordered the same set Jerry ordered - easy way to soften up the tops of my jack stands. I already have a rubber pad for the jack itself.

    From the dimensions of the metal pad, the metal slot is almost 1" deep. I think it is intended to be used so that the weight is not on the pinch weld rib but the bottom part of the rocker panel. But you are right, being made of cast aluminum, it probably does not protect against paint scratches on the rocker panel where the top surface of the two walls of the slot makes the contact.

    These are centered on the pinch welds and give a wider surface for a jack to be positioned ;).

    But since you’ve asked for a close up:

    It fits nicely into the cup of a floor jack(y).

    OK, the picture is clearly showing that the depth of the slot is shorter than the pinch weld rib itself. Meaning it is not used to avoid the weight being on the pinch weld itself.

    I measured my hard points, and they are 0.35" thick and just a bit over 1" deep, so they should just fit in the slot and the weight would be on the bottom of the slot.

    I get it now. If you have a floor jack with a recessed cup, this will sit in the cup and ensure all the load goes from the hard point to the jack, without any parts of the jack cup getting around the hard point.

    The photo also shows what the magnets do. The adapter holds on to the hard point, and since it isn't moving it won't scratch the paint. I was envisioning it sitting on the jack and then being lifted up around the hard point, which is the opposite of how it works.

    With my rubber insert on the jack cup, I wonder if these would be any additional value. I will likely jack the car at interior hard point and put my jack stands with rubber softeners at the hard points on the body.

    Aha!(y) That's it. Thanks. One benefit is that the pad supposed to have a strong magnet to attach to the jack point. Rubber one tends to get loose easily and rolls away.

    I ordered one. When I rotate tires or put the snows on, I put my jack under the hard point. This should make that a bit simpler.

    Installed these visor extenders:

    The quality is as expected (not great, but functional). The one thing I didn't know was whether they could be installed on either side of the visor, in order to preserve use of the vanity mirror. I was pleased to find out that they can. Reviews on other similar products said you'd have to lose your mirror. Much cheaper (2 for $25) than the visormates a lot people use (1 for $19 + $7 shipping) and they came in 2 days with prime shipping which was important since I'm going out of town Friday.

    Also, got the Carista:
    . $20 instead of the $50 for the OBDLINK LX a lot of people use. And that includes a month trial of the app. Used it to reduce the beeping in reverse, and enable windows down with remote and a couple other little changes.

    Yesterday I started unboxing, configuration, and layout planning for my new Street Guardian SGGCX2Pro+ front dash cam and SGR291 rear camera.

    I'm doing the install so I can easily move the front camera between all 3 vehicles if I want.

    Update: Wow, do I really like the video quality of these two cameras. I'm amazed.
