Hi i was just wondering if i should switch my car to Koni FSDs or get another set of KYB shocks for the car as I am aware that the KYBs are the OEM struts that came on the vehicle. If anyone has had any experience with the Konis that would be great as i would really like to hear how your experience with them has been before i order a set.

Any replies/ advice is greatly appreciated.

    TQ

so far so good. I replaced alot at the same time so not sure how the konis by themselves are. I put all Cusco under braces, front struts tower, TRD springs, and Hotchkiss swaybars front and rear. Also rolling on FRS wheels. all combined it is allot better. no more blowing around on highway or when I'm behind semi-truck. if I were to do it over I probably go with tein coilovers with the on the fly adjustment. I like it stiff. lol

I'd go with the cheaper of the two. We're talking about Priuses here ... not Maserati's.

lol. I'm pretty sure teins for a Maseratis would be 10x what they are for a Prius. Aso cost difference from all new struts and springs to coilovers is marginal. With the mods my DD puts a smile on my face going through some back roads each morning. Closing on 200k miles and she rides better then rental cars I have gotten lately.

It's all good. Get what makes you happy. I was just having conversation.

    Currently ... I am driving the absolute coolest car I've ever had since 1977 ... A 2004 Gen-2 Prius.

It's last fill-up (yesterday) clocked in @ 62.8 MPG. In my book that's damned cool.

What are you expecting, performance or durability?
My experiences with Koni's are they are high performance, adjustable to your liking, but they only last about 40,000 miles.
For KYB's, these are OEM structs, nothing special, they easily last over 100,000 miles.
    Take your pick.

sorry but konis offer lifetime warranty and are not adjustable. way better option then kyb but won't get the coilover performance. I would suggest the higher end tein for that.

Yeah ... kinda what I was saying. I'm of the opinion that when you are replacing parts like these at the age of the car ... you won't ever be replacing them again ... so go with cheap OEM parts.

... But that's just me. YMMV.

mine has never drove so well! Love it so much more. it puts life back into her. it might be the last car I buy. At this rate owning cars may be a thing of the past in 10 years
