    I WANT IT!!!!

    :ROFLMAO:
Build the time machine first, you'll need it.

Yep, I can't glide my daughter's 2010 nor my Prime. Easy on the Gen IIs.

I kind of doubt that information would come out of the mouth of the guilty party.

I wonder if that's one of the metrics that the Prime's equivalent of a "black box" keeps track of?
Toyota alludes that information could be extracted if requested by the proper authorities post
    accident etc.
Not sure it's ever been done though.

    This seems odd to me.
Any car with navigation and Bluetooth would have lots of data, would it not?
When we bought our Prius, over ten years ago our Prius stored information and phone contacts as I recall.

This is a concern, but not just for Tesla drivers.

I assume that my Prius stores my information and phone contacts, but I would like to think that when I delete my personal information it is unrecoverable. I need a white hat to verify that though.

If your Prius was totaled in a crash, you probably won't have the chance to delete the data before it goes off to auction or the scrap yard.

    This is exactly the issue.
Tesla’s have an option in the controls to delete all the data. It just wasn’t used after the accident.
Probably not top of mind during an accident.

Car gets hauled off to a junkyard, data is still there.

It should be possible to delete it through an ap, but that will still require the car to have power and be connected.

A tad off topic but something along the same line: many people don’t realize that many larger copy machines have hard drives that store without discrimination all those docs you plunk into them. Sensitive, personal, private, or legit work from the office, it all goes there. Food for thought!

I'll give them points for considering the whole problem... Replacing clean-burning cars with cleaner-burning or no-burning ain't gonna get us there. Gotta have affordable solutions to replace the cheapest, nastiest, dirtiest burners. Scooters, motorbikes, autoricks etc.

It may look like a wheelchair attachment but somebody is going to use that to replace a 35 year old motorcycle dragging a cart with 1500lbs of onions on it. Hopefully.

That buyback program a few years ago didn't accomplish this? Or was that program the total bust we expected?

What I'm getting at is that I think Toyota wants to crack the overall pollution-from-transportation issue, and that they seem to understand that a very big part of the problem is emissions from things that aren't actual cars operated by people who, for various reasons, aren't going to buy cars.

One old moped can produce as much air pollution as dozens of modern ICE cars. If you want to remove X amount of pollution, which is easier? Electrify one moped or dozens of cars?

The business challenge is that mopeds are far less profitable than cars. You're welcome to your own interpretation but I think what I'm seeing is Toyota moving to address this market.

Toyota isn't the only one addressing the non-car emissions. Honda is working on swappable batteries for scooters and such.

Supposedly the EV-cub went on sale last year. I haven't been able to dig up much on it though.

I have very high expectations for it and machines like it. They stand to do far more against pollution than anything we do with cars in the USA.

Saw a new Cub at a gas station recently.

Electric motorcycles and kin are already popular in China, and spreading through Asia.

My only concern is: Will I still be able to drive when my charge is zero? Yes with Prius. Since probably 98% of the cars are ICE, I plan on continuing with the hybrid concept. Perhaps when 80% are BEVs and the chargers are just everywhere, then I’ll reconsider. Tesla has a good interim solution by providing charging stations along popular Interstate routes, BUT, don’t make any unplanned side trips during your trip. You may get stranded. When O2 levels get so bad that our fellow human beings are dropping like flies, then and only then will our reactive leaders do something! Why should they? They are doing fine. Incidentally, the most dangerous fuel in Worldwide use is GASOLINE. Accidents occur daily. Pollution is widespread. Destruction of nature is prevalent. But do not dishearten, our politicians are looking into these problems!!!

Are we having problems with lowering oxygen levels?
