Replacing 3lbs12oz paper manuals with 5oz repurposed cell phone with downloaded PDF manuals. If I don't remember to keep the phone charged the Gooloo portable car jump starter will act as back up power. Living dangerously. No spare tire or paper manuals.

    Also saves precious space;).

I’ve had to get pretty creative to stash what I had in our 2010 in the Prime .

And that excludes the spare that now takes up space in the back:(.

    But every little bit helps(y).

Or save the 5 ounces and put the manuals on your cell phone.

I put them on my iCloud drive. Now they are synced to my phone, my iPad, and both computers. My car was used and the original owner apparently felt that he needed to hang on to the paper manuals and one key fob. I have not missed the manuals one bit and the replacement fob was free.

In the unlikely event I or another driver forgot our personal phones (who does that ?), I wanted to have a back up.

It would be nice if the manuals could be accessed from our 11.6" screen.

Mine is still in the glove box. I don't use that space for anything other than just keeping registration and insurance paper. But, just like most other cars I have owned in the past, I have not opened the manual not even once since I bought the car. For other cars, mostly because I did not need to learn much from the manual, but with PRIME, I used pdf version from day one.

Remove the glove box- saves even more weight plus it eliminates the temptation to carry other things.

Earplugs are lighter than seats & carpets.

That's about all I do with that space, too. I find that most stuff I put in there slides back & forth going around corners.

I've heard if you flip the rear seats down you get better mpg.

I could gain too lose a few pounds myself. That would help. Wait, I just gained 3 lbs by ditching the paper manuals. Now I can gain 3 lbs and call it even.

Didn't they nix the rear wiper on the 4th gen Eco, purely for weight reduction? Ditto for the temp spare? The Eco is a bit of an odd duck, pricier, and stripped-down.

Maybe that was the beginning of a "Toyota trend" though, both the spare and rear wiper are increasingly being nixed, various levels.

I'm wondering how much unsprung weight I can pull off our Prime.

Starting to sound like Porsche. You pay extra for less stuff.

Of course, it makes the car more aerodynamic.

Replace the 12V with a lithium ion... it's not cheap to do, but it will save more weight than the manuals (~25lbs)

Aside from possible weight savings, I suspect the curved rear glass would be difficult to use a rear wiper...
