Hi everyone, have searched a lot but still cant find good options for an aircon regas other than the dealer. All the usual cheap places like F1 autocentres, kwikfit etc wont do hybrid aircon as they dont have the right oil and their machines have to do gas and oil at the same time. Toyota charge £120 for gas only which is a bit steep. Have you gotten a better deal anywhere else? Cheers!

In the US, I would buy a can of R-134a from Walmart for $5, and a hose with low pressure gauge for $15, and DIY.

Very little refrigerant is needed to swing from ineffective to totally freezing, so be careful when adding refrigerant and add a small amount at one time, then see how the cabin air cooling changes in response to the shot of refrigerant.

Thanks but don't see any easy way to buy it in the UK and think I also need to fill with some of the correct ND11 oil also. Seems like the risk of filling with the wrong PAG oil is too high...

If you add just a squirt or two of refrigerant only, maybe you don't need to worry about oil?

When our 2010's performance was falling off I just took it in. They quoted $150 (CDN) to evacuate, check and recharge, and of course when done they started back peddling. I got a little testy, and eventually we settled on $150 plus taxes. I think.

Maybe different countries they stiff you more though; I understand service charges in UK are pretty exhorbitant, for most everything?

Well its £60 for most non hybrid cars for a evacuation, regas and re-oil but its £120 for regas only for Prius at Toyota dealer. Not earth shattering but...
