Intake manifold and EGR circuit preventive mantanance?

Nope .

Just plan on cleaning the circuit every 50k miles or so after the 100k mileage mark.

If you have a pressure washer, it makes the cooler cleaning super easy.

Just be thankful you don’t have a Gen4 or Prime and need to do this task.

EGR: Exhaust Gas Recirculation. The harder you drive, the more concentrated your exhaust gas is when it recirculates, the more deposits are left behind. For my money, I would bet that driving habits can, indeed, affect the rate that EGR deposits build up. Begin by using a fuel that minimizes the amount of crud left behind during combustion. That would mean using a high-detergent Top Tier certified gasoline as found at Homepage . Most of the major brands are already there. Then, make a habit of driving as though your low fuel warning light is on. As you burn less gas, the exhaust will be cleaner to begin with. No jack-rabbit starts. No stomping on the pedal. Minimal high-speed driving or trailer-pulling, excess weight- anything you know that will affect fuel economy. All of that would be doubly true on a cold engine, as any combustion engine is inherently less efficient until it reaches normal operating temperature. In short, drive like you want to save fuel, and the EGR maintenance should not be required nearly so soon.

 

That's what I've been assuming. No symptoms, so far.
It would be interesting to know how closely EGR clogging rate correlates with rate of oil consumption, and with mpg, among other variables.
