Should blue light be off for scheduled charge?

    Hi Everyone.

I picked up my Prius Prime on Thursday!! Loving it so far. And I love the color of the red.

Anyways, the first night, I did a scheduled departure charge time for 10am. It worked when I checked in my car the next morning.
Yesterday, I did the same departure time for 10am but it didn't seem to have charged. I'm thinking the power got disrupted as my husband was moving the cords to be more hidden when he got home from work in the early am. (We live in an apartment and plug into a public exposed wall).
Tonight I went down to program the charge to departure at 10am. I noticed when I locked the car door that the blue light flashed for a second and then went out.
Is this right? The big black block has the orange light indicating "POWER"...

Scheduling a charge time seems pretty straightforward, but second guessing myself because not didn't charge last night.

    Thank you in advance everyone.

Here's also a picture of my Prius Prime on the day of delivery. Charging and waiting for mommy to take her home

Congrats!! The blue light just means that it's charging. The number of lights increases as the charge level increases.

The scheduled charging can get a little funky if you try to edit a schedule or if you set it to "charge now" and that timing overlaps with a scheduled charge.

Is it possible that a circuit breaker or ground fault device tripped and there was no power at the outlet when the car tried to charge?

This is an area where the manual is a lot of help, but it can be a little overwhelming, too.

I believe this means that climate prep is set to on. I noticed the same thing when I locked the doors with a schedule set and climate prep on.

    Congrats! Love the colour combo!

The light comes on only if it's charging so if it's scheduled, it'll stay off. As long as block doesn't say "FAULT" or any other combination of lights (you can read it up in the manual for possible charging cable faults), you should be fine.

I had the same thing happen as @MommysPrius . With a schedule set and plugged in, the first blue light will come on briefly when the doors are locked.

Thanks. Never noticed because in that situation, I'm almost always locking it from the hatch and cant very well see those lights.

I just noticed it the other day because I never locked my doors when charging before. I charge in my garage.

When I charge at work or church, I plug in, then close and lock the hatch and walk away. Mr. Oblivious. That's me.

Not sure, but I think climate prep needs to be on.

Yeah I don’t notice the light even though I lock the car and the car is backed into the spot. It’s by the pillar so by the time I walk around the back of the car and towards the front, I assume the light would have come on then off again.

I came down at 4am to see if it was charging for departure at 10am. It wasn't and I wasn't really surprised since it's 5.5 hours for a full charge from empty battery, and my car still has about 12kms left of range.
So just to get back to sleep and not lose sanity over this issue, I changed my departure time to 9am lol. And it started charging even before I got out of my car.

So I guess everything was set to charge for 10am initially. This is a good thing!!

I guess the circuit did break at some point when my husband was moving the cords around

Thank you everyone for responding bro me this post. This forum is such a good community!

I tried it this morning. I have a charge scheduled for 10 AM tomorrow morning with climate prep on (not traction battery cooler). After I plugged in, I went to the front of the car and locked it. The first blue light came on and stayed on for about 15 seconds.

Well I was cleaning up the cords last night and the power of the black box clicked so I'm assuming it was the power switching off and back on again. I checked the car over and the screen still said "charging for Monday departure 10am"...and the blue light flashed for a second after I locked the car. Everything seemed right and the same as my successful charge set up the night before.
But sure enough, I came down at 9am to see if the car charged...and it DIDN'T!
I wish there was a way to know if the car is not going to charge for set departure.

I might just charge it when I get home every night and then unplug it after fully charged and go to sleep. Only reason why I haven't done this is because I've read online that it's bad for the battery to leave it charged full for a long period of time.
It wouldn't be left fully charged fully for days on end. Just until the next morning. Would it be that bad for the battery to just charge it when I get home??

It's so much trouble worrying about if the battery is going to be charged for departure or not lol.

Toyota recommends that you charge just before driving, but there is little or no data to show how much the battery degrades if you charge sooner and leave it fully charged for longer.

Did you unplug either end of the cord? If not, then you shouldn't hear the box click. I wonder if you don't have a bad connection at the wall socket, and moving the cord is breaking/making the connection.

How many charge schedules do you have set in the car? I would start by clearing them all, and then set one schedule (could cover multiple days of the week). Or even better, set a test schedule for sometime in the afternoon and see if that activates properly.

One trick I have used when I anticipate multiple trips in a day but want the car fully charged in the am. When I return from a trip, I charge the car to about 80% by selecting charge now and then looking at the estimated time to full charge and setting a timer on my watch for less than that. With practice, I can get it pretty close. That leaves me some charge for going out again, but not a full charge. The full charge happens the next night on the charge timer.

I see that you have a 2019 Advanced model. You can set the Entune app to notify you when the car begins and ends charging.

I think only the Primes sold in the U.S have Entune that shows all that useful stuff. I don't have that option in my Entune.

Sorry - didn't notice your location. Although it could have referred to Vancouver, WA, USA.
