    I certainly agree overall...but not for me...I'd take the AWD-e Prius. (y)

Also, I'm assuming the ground clearance of the AWD-e Prius is exactly the same as the regular Prius?

IIRC it's a trivial amount less, like 1/8" or so. Not sure how you even measure that.

I’m not sure what to think of a Prius lease. The thing the Prius is best at is being driven a zillion miles. But most leases come with pretty draconian mileage allowances and overage penalties. It sounds like a setup for some conflict.

that's true, but other people like me just like it as a normal everyday vehicle choice. 15k miles per year. but at 300+ month, non awd version and base model with tons of cash down seems steep.

The home (Japan market) is appreciating PRIUS - it's increased in sales. Petrol in Japan is 5.11 US Dollars/US Gallon:

I've been generally happy after a month with my 2019 Prius XLE AWD-e (replacing a 2006 Prius), but I don't think I have anything especially interesting to say about it - given that it is mostly similar to the last 3 years of Gen4.

I do a lot of (skiing-related) driving in the winter, so I expect to be reporting on the AWD then.

Isn't that his new PRIUS on his AVATAR? I didn't realise they came in YELLOW though - I love yellow for cars.

Happy 2019 Prius LE owner here.. for the most part.
Big step up from a 2013 Prius C. Head Gasket failed just shy of 499K. Otherwise no major issues. Just Maintenance.
I drive for a living and usually put at least 350 miles a day on it. Its been hot and I know hybrids love the heat. So far been averaging 62-63 mpg. Was barely getting 48-49mpg with the C, so huge step up. Its very comfortable and fun to drive. I live near the Twin Cities so I will be dealing with snow. The C did OK in the snow. I hope this one is better. I did not get the AWD.. I need to have a spare tire. LE only trim that has one.
My friend has a 2016 ECO. He says I'm getting better mileage than him and he is careful and slow. Another difference besides the body styling is the 2019 uses 0-16 oil. His ECO uses 0-20 oil. So there must be some tweaks to the motor.
What I wish was better.. Radio/Entertainment/head unit. no android auto or apple car play. Toyota needs to upgrade. Ever notice on car commercials .. how they focus in on the Electronics... Its a BIG seller. I plan to replace the head unit after I pay the car off in a year.

I am in Twin Cities as well. My wife's 2013 fwd Prius has been pretty good in Winter. Sure, the traction control comes on a lot, but she is used to that now. I drive an awd Honda crv (2016) which has fared quite well in the snow here. I think I would consider the awd Prius if it had apple car play and better terms for finance.

New 2019 Limited owner here. Just got it two days ago. Previously had bare-bones 2007 model for about 10 years.

The new one is so much better in every way I can think of. I drove it to work for the first time yesterday, about 25 miles of mixed surface streets and freeway, and averaged 61 mpg. Driving home by similar route averaged 68 mpg. All without any effort to try to squeeze mpgs out of it. I used to struggle to reach 45 mpg in the 2007 car.

The seats are far more comfortable -though I liked the cloth seats in the old one- not sure about this new "simulated leather" stuff yet- probably a lot easier to keep clean... Lumbar support in driver's seat is great, and seat heaters will be great in Wisconsin winter. I got the steering wheel heater, too.

While slow compared to the Audi TT roadster it replaced, the 2019 model is much quicker than the 2007 car was, and a lot quieter, too. It seems to have plenty of "go". The ride is smoother and more comfortable compared to the old one (and the TT) - I assume that's the reason they went to 4-wheel independent suspension.

My wife drives a BMW X3 and the sound system in it is great (probably the only thing I like about that car). The JBL system in the Prius is almost as good (like 99%), and much easier to use.

I'm not sure about the navigation system yet- still studying the manual and figuring out the various settings, but I like the 11" display. I can actually see it without having to put my reading glasses on. The HUD is great, too.

Then there's the headlights... When we got the 2007 Prius, I thought they were a joke and actually unsafely dim. Before my son traded it in a Subaru last December I installed aftermarket LEDs. I was finally able to see where I was going at night! The 2019 Prius comes with LED projector headlights that auto level and follow the steering input and they are incredibly bright, possibly brighter than the HID headlamps in the TT.

I got the Prius because I rarely have anyone in the car with me but have a lot of hobbies and need to haul stuff - not heavy, but bulky. I had friends trying to talk me into a Tesla, but I couldn't see buying a model X and the model 3 can't carry anything but people. Maybe my next car, after the wheels fall of this one, will be all electric. My experience with the 2007 Prius was essentially perfect reliability. I'm expecting the new one to be equally reliable.

I know fuel is cheap now ($4.50/gallon in California when I bought the 2007 Prius in 2009), but I would not expect that to last, especially with the current state of world politics.

Seems to do OK for normal Florida commuting speeds.

Harbor Freight 5'5" x 7'5" (or some variation of inches) 8-mil tarp to protect the back for stuff like bikes until the roof rack set-up is installed and completed.

I found that a big piece of Home Depot indoor/outdoor carpet cut into the shape of the area-to-protect does a great job and black matches the interior color pretty well.

It's a good idea for dry storage. Have to imagine it would allow muddy wet water to seep through it though. I had to come up with some system of protection for the outdoor activities I do where everything gets coated with mud or sea salt & water. My bet is that even a thick Harbor Freight tarp allows stuff to get through it in places, but this was the easy short-term fix since there is a new HF store near me, and the tarp was on sale for less than $4.

Keep in mind that I'm used to having a bed-liner'ed pickup truck bed to throw my gear and clothing into. This Prius will now have to wear big-boy pants and be like a truck in the back to some degree.

The sizing of the tarp is nice in that it is large enough to come up with sides, and the rear, of the storage compartment to 'trap' in muddy / sandy water, sweat, etc. With the rear seats in the down-position being higher than the main storage area, I'm hoping this can contain the muck on rainy days.
