Any word or speculation on a release date for the 2020 Prius? Or whether to expect any (even minor) changes from the 2019? I'm planning to buy a Prius within the next few months, and it'd be helpful to know whether I can play the timing right to get a better deal on a 2019 or if I should spring for some improved feature on the 2020.

Looks like there's a $1,250 rebate offer here right now, up from $1,000 last month. I haven't been in the market for a while, so I'm not sure how that compares to the usual.

The speculation I've heard is that it's unlikely that there be any real changes, seeing 2019 had styling changes. Possibly a rehash of equipment in some markets?

Significant changes or significant new features - I'd expect they'd keep them for Gen 5 in 2021/'22.

2019 was the refreshed so I expect minor changes for 2020 (maybe exterior colour differences and a new Moonstone)

It’ll save paint costs for some cab companies if it’s the right shade of yellow lol.

Wasn't the word that Apple Play would be part of the radio system on 2020's?

By 2020, if Apple Play and Android-Auto aren't standard on even the base model Prius radios, Toyota should start firing managers. I just bought a 2019 with the knowledge that Toyota's 2012 radio (in new 2019's) would need replaced at a cost of $350 to $500 - for a new car that is supposed to be about modern technology.

I was just going to ask about Apple Car Play. I wonder if that will be a standard in the regular Prius? Not just the 2020 Prime?

I'd be happy with a radio with buttons and knobs, not like this idiocy they give us in Australia - I think most TOYOTAs don't have buttons or knobs here - though at least it has a CD Player:

Sorry about being pedantic but the current headunits (Entune 2.x) are from 2014. 2012-2014 were the Display Audio units (6.1”) that had the Garmin-like interface.

I notice in the photo above that the CarPlay implementation isn’t wireless.

    Still, baby steps, I suppose.

All the applications I've seen (which aren't many) required it to be plugged in. The only one which didn't was a new Mercedes which I saw in a video recently.

One the best decisions I ever made was stepping up to package 3 (2015 Prius III), which includes the leather seats and seat warmers. It will pay for itself at resale.

Leather (or whatever synthetic material it is) makes a huge difference. My car has 115k miles and still smells like a new car. Cloth is like an n odor sponge. And if you're in a cold climate, the seat warmers are REALLY nice.

Toyota usually has a great financing incentive if you can qualify. You can basically get into a brand new Prius at invoice, financed for 60 months at 0% interest (or close to 0%) with no cash outlay. In my case, I drive so many miles, my monthly gas savings pays more than 1/2 my monthly car payment. A new Prius was the ultimate "no brainer" for me.

If you can use other people's money at 0% (for free), that's usually better than grabbing the rebate, for most people. IMO

My bad. I didn't look for that one -- just the Prime. Another reminder not to assume.

I reached out to my local dealership and got this response: "Toyota started production of the 2020 Prius about two weeks ago and they will start arriving at dealerships in late Sept." Nothing about features, but I expect we'll see that info on Toyota's website soon enough!

Love everything about my 2019 - except for the antique infotainment head unit.

They change that on the lower models, and it's a winner again. Ride is smooth, handles well, acceleration is surprising many cars around me. Cruises comfortably at 86 to 90 MPH.
