Just scored me a mint condition laptop to use and modify for the garage so my question is what's the best version of tech stream for all the Prius generations? I'm looking for something to work on all gens and show real time HV battery voltage and will also be able to scan determine and delete codes. Also is there any wireless bluetooth programs to use with my tablet like the ELM327?........ any help would be appreciated

The newest versions just interface with the newer cars for the most part. I think v13 can do cars up to some 2019’s.
A vxdiag will allow you to do things a mini vci won’t. Like program TPMS codes. The MINI VCI I have won’t let me do that. Don’t know if any version is wireless.

I understand. This just gives you the jump on installing it. It’s an odd process and some people have trouble with it. A few here had so much trouble they just gave up. Better to know if you can do it before hand I say.

And make sure you are not connected to any wireless internet routers when using techstream. If you do, it will lock up trying to establish a connection to update itself. Just disconnect all wireless networks and then open the techstream program.

Yes. 2018 no but 2017 yes. It covers the other 2018 Prius models but not the 2018 prime for some reason.

That's a good reminder. Easy to forget in the process of getting software installed and running. The old Lenovo I use has a physical wifi switch that I keep turned off since I'm running XP on it anyway. It's for Techstream ONLY.

    Fantastic. (for me anyway) Thanks.

The wire is really the important part. The cheap ones won’t program the TPMS system or let you do other things.

Mine is a cheap one, but I've never looked into the tpms part. I should do that.

I think I was able to do TPMS stuff with the Mini VCI that I happen to have.

The main thing with the Mini VCIs is just the quality control, at the price point they're being sold at.

If you buy four of them (which gets you up around the price of a VxDiag), one of them might just work fine. The rest might not, but they'll mess up in different ways. The one I have will do TPMS, but can't retrieve any live data from the engine, or get through a brake bleed more than one time in six.

See Chapman’s post above. I can see the live engine data with mine but I don’t think I can bleed the brakes.
