Hello all!! Past Prius owner before it got totaled. Now kids grew up and my brother just gifted a 2007 Prius to my daughter. This car as the dreaded combination meter issue where it wont come in at times. Is there anyone in Tucson, AZ yall recommend that can change this? I have done it before but i never had any luck taking out the air vents without breaking at least one. Thank you.

What makes you think a mechanic won’t brake a vent? At least if you do it yourself the money you save in labor can buy a new vent.

The left center vent is almost guaranteed to break; don’t worry about it. Just buy a replacement as part of the repair.

Steve at phoenixhybridbatteries.com can do it. But I don't think he'll guarantee not breaking a vent. You can ask

See the combination meter repair thread up above in the sticky section of this forum. Matt of Texas Hybrids established a repair for this; you order from him and let him know the model year and odometer reading you need; he programs a repaired board and sends to you. Then you return your failed board to him so he can repair it and sell to a future customer. A really high quality and reasonably priced service, I highly recommend it.

Patrick, thank you!! Will definitely try him.

Skibob, was not sure if they would or not. Figure since they have more experience than me maybe i was doing something wrong. I know doing it myself would save money but i did not know that Matt could send me one then i would send my back. Now that i know that would be the best solution.

I can sell you a combo-meter for a ‘06-‘09 that I already fixed with an upgraded capacitor.
