Does anyone have or know of a video of the noise a broken flywheel makes on a 2010 or 3rd Gen Prius?

Will knocking due to clogged egr disappear with increased rpms/engine speed?

Knocking on our Prius is happening when the engine kicks in and goes away when the gas pedal is pressed.

After a few revolutions and TERRIBLE NOISES, it usually gets very quiet.

What makes you think about the flywheel in the first place ??

The noise happens when the car is idling. It also appears to be on the drivers side.

I have replaced the plugs, coils and injectors. I also cleaned the intake manifold and egr pipe. The egr cooler is so clean, I can see daylight through it! I did clean the egr, but it could be malfunctioning. I have an egr valve on order. It will arrive in a couple days.

One other symptom I was reminded off. Slight smell like rotten eggs = exhaust and catalytic converter.

My Prius was using coolant and had the same knocking until the crankshaft blew a hole on the side of the engine

Did it display any codes or other signs, other than knocking, before blowing apart?

Cause of the problem was a faulty new ignition coil. Replaced with another. Runs smooth.

Another code flashed up P261B - water pump bad......what are the odds???

Turns out the water pump was seized. Crazy, the timing of that!
