Hi Everyone - I had to swap out the 12v battery yesterday. When I pulled the battery out, I accidentally pulled the vent tube out of the car with the battery.

I can’t seem to find where it goes to the body of the car. Our Prius Plug Ins don’t seem to have the same place for this as other Prius because of the extra battery.

Can someone take a pic of their vent tube and where it goes?

I recently replaced the 12volt in my 2012 Prius v. The original battery had a vent hose with a grommet that was not connected to any hole and there is no hole in that location.

The replacement battery has no vent tube.

I don't know of the Prime, but the Gen 3's have a large outside vent to the battery compartment.

I think OP is asking about 2012 Pip not PRIME. So your answer for Gen3 is appropriate. PRIME and Gen4 have regular battery in the engine compartment, thus no vent tube.

That being said, I am sorry that I don't know the answer to OP's question, even though I have owned Gen3 previous to PRIME. I never had to open the 12v battery compartment in the back while I owned my Gen3.

If this model has the 12v battery in the same location as the regular prius, (passenger side rear of trunk), there should be a rubber grommet in the trunk floor just a few inches in front of the clampdown mount and just an inch or two toward the trunk from the front corner of the battery. The tube goes in that grommet. The vent tube connects to the forward part of the battery and then runs along the front side of the battery toward the driverside and then into the floor grommet.

    Here's a link I found real quick for a 2010-2015

Right, I have a 2012 Prius Plug In.. the 12v is in the passenger side trunk.. the grommet popped out with the tube so I was expecting to see a hole that the grommet could fit into.. in a Prius Plug In, the spot where the hole is in the regular Prius is covered with the Hybrid battery. I’ll take a pic when I get a chance. I don’t see any holes the grommet could fit into. My new battery also has the vent hole.
So maybe it just sits not connected to anything in a Prius Plug in?

Sorry I may have posted this in the incorrect forum. Can a mod put this in the correct place?

That's weird, because in this video, showing the plug-in model, you can clearly see the 12v battery vent tube attaching at a similar place in the floor, right after he removes the long plastic tray by the trunk latch.

Glad to have helped, but I've found that youtube has practically all the answers to life's questions....at least about cars anyway...it's never let me down, lol.

I met a surgeon who lives in Bangladesh who finds help from YouTube since he's the only surgeon for several million people and there's no one nearby to ask. YouTube is really handy!!

It's amazing what you will find if you read through the owners manual! :)

Thanks everyone for the help. Found the hole hehe

I didn’t realize you had to take that gigantic tray out just to get to it.
