Mileage until fill up display...?

    If it's the fuel gauge, then there's one. If you're asking about the gauge that points out exactly how many gallons you have left, I don't think there's one.

    The coarse-display fuel gauge is significantly more accurate than the faux-apparent-precision miles-to-empty display.

    Update: The fuel range in my car has been automatically updated. When I topped it off yesterday, instead of 350~ miles range, it went all the way up to 460 miles. It may go up again since perhaps some bad mileage portion is still in the calculation. I am delighted btw. During the last 250 miles I am able to get 49.3 MPG with 28MPH average speed.

    Good question. Going from 629 to 662 DTE? I just keep finding better RPMs w/MPH combination. There are a few sweet spots that you can coordinate the RPM & MPH to yield the instant 75 MPGs on flat roads at different cruise control speeds. FE can be better but I have to merge on to the highway half of the commute w/AC on & music volume level in the upper 50s.

    Care to elaborate the sweet spot you mentioned? Not that I would have the opportunity to replicate that for a long distance but just curious.

    For a couple miles earlier in the evening I was driving at 53 MPH (dash display), 1180 RPM (Hybrid Asistant) instant EF 75 MPG (dash display). Condition: 7:15PM when traffic had barely loosen up, flat Hwy 880 with smooth new pavement, ambient temp 68F degrees, engine fully warmed up 186F, HV battery 86F, AC off.

    *Don’t flame me for driving 53 at 65 MPH freeway LOL I couldn’t go faster even if I wanted to. :p This ain’t the getting flipped is an honor thread. :ROFLMAO:

    Then it means you're actually going about 51-52MPH... I notice this recently when I activate the speedometer mode in Google Maps and Waze.. the speedometer in the dash always shows 1 to 2 MPH more than the speed the GPS is getting at. I also make sure it's not the GPS inaccuracy and sometimes, when passing a speedtrap that shows our speed, it is actually 1 MPH lower. Also you're lucky that the ambient temp is low. I wonder why do people say that Summer benefits the car so much. I think it's better on Fall and Spring... In summer you gotta keep the AC on since there's only two options: you overheated, or the battery. Keeping the battery in comfy zone means it can perform in its optimum stage. You can test this with your smartphone and laptop if you don't believe it..

    Summer destroys my battery range. I lose nearly 30% in the summer here. Of course we don't have winter here in the armpit of North America, just 8 months of summer and 4 months of spring/fall. We should finally get out of the 90's next week, but it's going to take a hurricane to do it. :whistle:

    One spot is 980-1050 rpm at 42-45 mph, if I don’t use cruise control, that yields a consistent 75-80 mpg w/o winds on flat road. With cruise control I get around 65-70 mpg, another member said your feet beats cruise control so that I believe.

    If you ever drive 53 on a 65 in the bay, set up a dash cam and I’ll over dub the song “yacky sacks” by Benny hill for the audio track.

    Haha, I’m a student of music theory and I can still hear frequency sine waves up to 18Khz. Most adults hearing rolls off at 17Khz

    Can you put an age on those frequency cutoffs?

    Despite substantial noise exposure without protection in my youth (machinery and gunfire), I could easily hear those frequencies in my 20's. The 15.75 kHz horizontal scan rate on TVs (NTSC) used to drive me nuts on some units, I even had to get rid of one TV because of it. But that is long gone. I entered my 50s hearing only up to 13kHz, and appear to be leaving that age bracket hearing just short of 12 kHz.

    The one time I played a sweep tone clip for dad, who is severely hearing impaired, he was done before 1.5 kHz. Now that his hearing has degraded much more (with speaker off, I can hear the TV through his Bluetooth hearing aid link), I should try playing that clip for him again.

    A friend of mine who's owned 5 of 'em over the years (but never been on the forums that I'm aware) said something along the lines of "You can expect to drop 1-2mpg PER 5 miles of speed over 50"

    Does anyone else note this difference, that spends long time/distances on the Highway?

    95% of my driving is done at or above 70mph (on rolling hills the entire way)...and TorquePro's MPG (average) calculator says 40.2 pretty consistently.

    My driving style is to "hit" my cruising speed at a slow-to-steady pace (trying to keep it out of "power" bar)...then use Cruise for EVERYTHING else. If I have to slow or stop, I tap the cruise stalk as soon as I get "back" up to 25mph (which is where I've noticed Cruise starts working again).

    I have noticed that my foot has gotten a lot lighter on both accel & braking in the 3 months since I got the Prius.

    Those who have carefully measured it, find significantly larger mpg drops at higher speeds (courtesy of Bob Wilson):

    Very coarsely, this leads to a rule of thumb of 120: In favorable conditions, MPG + MPH = 120. Which implies a loss of 1 mpg for every 1 mph increase, though as displayed on this chart, the portion above 50 mph isn't quite that steep.

    Yeah, I don't think I've ever had it over 75 (where the steep drop-off is)...and if so, it definitely was not deliberate. 73 is my typical top cruising speed.

    ...over hill and dale, that is...which of course throws it's own monkey into the wrench of determining gas mileage.
