Using Mobil 1 Turbo Diesel Truck oil in my Prius?

    I have two cars, a 2006 Jetta and a 2009 Prius. Recently I found out that Mobil 1 10W- 40 Turbo Diesel truck oil
    has the latest anti-friction additive that is better really than the 505 spec oils that are required for the Jetta. So I now use it rather than the European 505 spec oils that cost twice as much. What I have heard about this M1 TDT oil is that is is really a superior oil also even for non-diesel car engines. I know what is specified for the Prius is 5W-30, but wouldn't 10W-40 be okay, also? I have been using only Mobile 1 full synthetic 5W-30, and a M1 oil filter. But I am hearing that the M1 TDT version has better wear protection qualities. This Prius engine has got to last another 4 years, and so I have to use absolutely the best oil in it! opinion?

    If Jim actually started using the heavy diesel oil almost 3 years ago, I for one would be very interested in his report.

    Or perhaps I've been in another "time warp"?

    But I’ve referred to it as an Easter egg hunt:).
