Does anyone have experience with the cheap ($150 - $250) cables you see on eBay or Amazon? I would like to have a cable to leave in the garage. I am suspicious but curious.

    Not quite enough info.

Do you mean that you want a Chinese built level 1 OR level 2 EVSE unit ?

IMO, you would be much better off with a used Ebay purchase of an OE EVSE unit from virtually any manufacturer.

The Chinese EVSE units are fair at best.

I assume, maybe I am wrong, that a Nissan Leaf charger would not work

I got a second cable off of Craigslist for $80:).

Now I have a cord at home and one at work;).

It was a used ford cord (said it was off of a C-Max), but it’s a J1772 plug, so it works well(y).

I know you already bought a EVSE, but I have a story about my previous Fiat 500e unit.

I used the supplied Fiat cable for three months before I found about a 3” area where the insulation was chewed (I think) down to one of the wires. Our property backs up to an open field, and I’m guessing a mice family wanted to get out of the rain / freezing weather and thought the cable looked / tasted like spaghetti!

The real moral of this story is that I NOW keep the cord off the garage floor whenever it’s not in use.

Chewing cable is not mice favorite part of their diet. However, it is an indication that they found nothing else to eat. Get one of those food traps where you put poison food inside and they will go away and die somewhere else.

Got the Leaf cable yesterday, it works fine. Now I don't need to open the hatch and rearrange things anymore.
    thanks

I just bought a 2020 Prime, and am also looking for another charging cable that I can keep in the car. Due to where my outlet is, I can't easily unplug the cable whenever I leave the house. Can anyone suggest a reasonably priced cable? I am only interested in a Level 1 cable, don't want to go to Level 2 or 240V.

I just went in Craigslist and got mine;).

Any cord that is J1772 protocol will work, so there are many possibilities:).

Good luck and keep us posted (y).

Rodent poison should be avoided as much as possible. It works its way up the food web and ends up poisoning owls, hawks, fox, etc. who prey on mice and occasionally animals who prey on animals who prey on mice, such as coyotes and puma.
