@Rebound is an experienced wrench and was looking for a meetup group local to Portland :).

He might be able to help if you describe your needs ;).

Or maybe you both can meet up and get to know one another(y).

Diagnostic possibly the P0A93 error code was identified but I'm not sure. Btw are you still wanting to create a prius meetup? Sort of interested in that.

I haven’t replaced one but I can get the procedure and review it. You shouldn’t drive that car if one of the coolant pumps isn’t operating. First... what year is your Prius?

It's a 2009. I am planning on busing or walking everywhere.

Raythe eagle says that you are a wrench. Does that mean you are a mechanic?

The inverter water pump sits behind the drivers headlight, so access is tight .

But if you loosen the inverter, you can gain access and swap it out:).

    That’s what @SFO and I did on his 07;).

Good luck and keep us posted (y).

I’m not professional. I make semiconductors for a living... it pays better. But Ray and I have worked on Prius’ a few times. I have more than enough equipment at home for this, and a well-lit garage... this procedure takes only a few ordinary hand tools.

I’m tight on time — only chance I can do it is maybe an evening this week or else next Saturday. After that, I’m out of the country on business for a while.

I think it will take me two hours or less. You’re gonna help, right?

I’ve seen a few videos of this now. In all of them, they removed the driver’s side headlight, which requires loosening the bumper cover. But once the headlight’s out of the way, clamp two hoses and pull a few bolts.

Parts needed: Inverter coolant pump, bottle of Toyota brand coolant.

I never Got back to you about this I really appreciate you taking the time and responding to my post. I ended up going to a local mechanic on scholls ferry who has really great approval ratings from my neighbors and on Yelp. It was a great job but it was $400 which can a hurts.

Now I am having great fluctuation in my battery. I'm pretty sure that's not a good thing when I checked the battery it was charging at 14 .

keep your eye on it. you're fine until you get the red triangle.

it might just be corrosion inside the battery, or some of the peripheral wiring harnesses.

hopefully, your new mech will be able to help if need be.

Thank you Bisco. I met with Rebound and he ran some test. It was great to get to know him a little bit. Prius people are nice.

Unfortunately, my Techstream PC wouldn’t boot today, and it’s awful hard to put together a Windows XP PC. I have a Vista laptop, but I couldn’t get the VIM driver to load.

If you are looking for shops, Atomic Auto on NE 122nd Ave in Portland specializes in Prii.
I just took my car in and they're great. They are not cheap though.
Since I'm a newby to this forum, I can't post links yet. You can look up their website and Yelp reviews though.
Hope you get it fixed soon (if you haven't already)!

Why don’t you come by my house for a Prius MeetUp sometime and we’ll work on our cars together? I’ve been trying to start this in the Beaverton/Tigard area for a few months.

A local Prius Meetup group sounds great. However, I'm on this forum prematurely because I'm hoping to buy a Prius within the next week or two.
The car I took to Atomic is a Chevy Volt, which is normally maintenance and repair free, but I got attacked by a huge rock that did a ton of damage.
I will be selling our Toyota Previa and replacing it with a Prius for better gas mileage.

After spending a bit of time reading this forum though, I'm starting to sense that Prii are not very dependable if they are known to have these catastrophic engine problems. It also seems that they burn oil. Not what I'm accustomed to at all with our Previa.
So it looks like if I get a Prius, I will be needing someone nearby to team up with. I'm in for a Prius Meetup, just not in the next month. :)

You’re getting the wrong impression about Prius. First lesson: EVERY car model forum’s “Maintenance and Troubleshooting” section lists nothing but trouble.
Me? Seven years, 142,000 miles, ZERO defects.
I think Mendel and Ray have had trouble-free, high mileage Priuses as well. Like them, I am very meticulous about maintenance... but Prius taxis are famous for going the full 300,000 miles without failures. And taxi drivers aren’t exactly easy-driving folks.
My opinion is that Prius is the most reliable car on the road, although, granted, any car is a crap shoot once you hit 175,000 miles. Or 60,000 miles if it’s a GM.

Yeah, I kind of realized that the section I was trying to get pointers from was the wrong section to be reading. I was tired and frustrated after looking at some really messed up cars for sale, and the people with long noses selling them, well...
After some rest, I was able to think more clearly and found a peach. I just got back after buying it tonight. I sign the papers on Tuesday, but it's mine. Impeccably kept by a mechanic/electrician 2012 V Three with 112K and all the accessories (WeatherTech mats, snow tires on steelies, oil filter wrench +).

I mostly work out of the PDX commercial Taxi/Rideshare lot. Sitting there looking at about a 50% Prius ratio at the very least for the past year got me to really look at them as excellent and reliable vehicles. All these taxi drivers and independent contractors using Prii is a great advertisement. I've been very pleased with my Volt, but like you said, it's a Chevy and basically a one-off for GM, so I don't want to add any more miles to its current 86.5K. The Prius V is a much better choice for my work.

Now I can honestly say that I have a Prius V and am a legitimate member of this forum. :D
    Thanks Rebound!
