Hey! So I'm close to buying a new car and I pretty much settled on either a V or Auris. And most likely starting from ~2014 as I would ideally like to keep it for 2 years. I'll be using it mostly for family needs but also do ride share(Uber, Bolt) during the weekend rush hours and other more cost efficient times to do the job. I'm planing on roughly driving ~50-60k a year(~65% city/ 35% highways).

My budget is around ~10k(I could push it to around 12k.But Id rather stay around the 10k mark, just in case I need the 2k(As I will be generally borowing money from relatives*0% interest rate), so Id rather not get hit with extra money problems along the way

The main problem is that in my country at any given time(Not counting the Toyota dealerships) there are around ~20 Prius V's and 20+ Auris(wagon ones) so there isnt too much to choose from(Looking at countries around me, I wouldnt rly gain much just add a ton of hastle)

So for that price if I look at the V's(2014+) - ones with ~250k+ kms at around 9k-10k(mostly just leather but no other perks) or ones that are ~150k+ at around 12.5k(These usually come in leather but rarely have any other noticibale perks)

The Auris(2014+) you can easily find ones with 150k or less kilometeres for 10k(but usually no leather and also no hard noticible perks, maybe the outside trim?) but for eu/km they are usually much better deals. And if you go up to ~12-13k you start finding 2015+ ones with ~70-100k.(Also with noticible perks like lane control, automatic parking...) So it feels like you get a huge jump in "technology" lets call it for the 2k and also much better miles on it.

So from the general sense I'm kind of leaning towards the Auris, even the ones for 12k-as I much, much like gadgets and doohikies. And the lower milles/year help me keep it for longer I feel. Or buy a V and sell it early? Which would be a bit of a bother, but generally I wouldn't mind a lot.

    welcome!

i would also lean toward the auris, but would also advise that if you don't diy, you secure a good hybrid mechanic before jumping into a high mileage hybrid vehicle. they can be very pricey repairs compared to a gasser, and difficult to find experienced shops, outside of dealers.

i would also restrain myself from becoming enamored with tech, and buy the lost km car i could find

    all the best!(y)

There is no Auris in the US, so I am limited to says nice things about the v. (Your v may have a LiION battery, mine is NiMH)

I bought the v as a cargo carrier, and it is great in that role. A great deal of room, and the rear seats fold in different widths, so you could have 2 passengers as still a great deal of cargo room.

When the rear seats are up; they slide fore and aft (children in car seats can be accessible from the front seats) and recline.

It feels peppy at low speeds, but has a top speed of 103 MPH if that is a problem. (165 kph)

Had a 2006 Renault Scenic for the past 1.5 years I can say I can manage some dyi stuff. (Not a bad car for the price, and actually much easier to repair and work on than most mechanics make it out to be... There is always a faster workaround if you have a good head.
Anyways... The main thing keeping me from the V is the higher miles on them as I feel going above 200k+ is where you get some general bigger repairs here and there. I especially started looking towards the Auris more after learning about the V problems where cleaning Egr and intake manifold might help(Cant remember now on the spot). Maybe Im just overthinking it but like all the V's in the easily 200k+ range seem like could be a hit or miss, you know? And Id much rather drop the extra 2k to feel safer. Hope that is a reasonable Idea :D
The tech Ill try to ignore for the most part, but if there isnt a big difference, lets say up to 20,000km, Ill have to go for it just because I'm to geeky not to try this tech in My car for the first time:D.

Oh really? I kind of never noticed that it was Europe, but now that I think about it, it did have a much smaller amount of reviews... And ones usually from Uk, Adds Up :D.
The Prius V is also a 7seater here in Europe so thats also a nifty thing, but rarely usable in the real life.
But I would still believe that both cars have more than enough space for my needs.
    Ty!

Yes, in the US the NiMH battery is below the load floor and there is a center console, In EU there is foot room below the load floor and the center console is full of LiIon battery. I wish you all the best!
