    I am trying to use conventional cruise control, not dynamic cruise control.

    From attempting to research this to answer my own question, it seems that pressing the end button of the stalk to turn cruise control on, but simply hold that button for a couple of seconds (instead of just punching it on), should cancel the DCC and set to standard cruise.

    For me, this doesn't work and its always DCC no matter how long I press the end button to turn it on.

    Any thoughts?

    On my gen 4, you cant switch modes while its on. You have to press the on-off button on the end of the stawk once (the DCC light goes off.) Then press and hold till the CC light comes on. (The DCC light comes on first then if you continue to hold, it goes out and the CC light comes on instead.)

    I don't understand why anyone would want to do that.
    So.....you want the cruise to STAY engaged at the set speed until the car HITS whatever object is ahead and moving slower ??

    I'm pretty sure that's what I'm doing.
    CC = Off
    Press button on end of lever in and hold.

    I'll try again.

    I don't understand why people take the time to post if they don't have an answer to the OP's question! :)

    I was rear-ended at a red-light and pushed into the car in front of me causing front-end damage also. Right now, the radar seems to be pointed at whatever car is travelling the lane to the right of the lane that I am in.

    So......I want the cruise to STAY engaged at the set speed and ignore the car in the next lane.

    AFAIK you don't press the button at the end to switch from ACC to CC but you push the stalk forward. That only works when you haven't set the CC after turning it on.

    That might be it! I know I was once able to get it conventional mode (when the sun angle didn't permit DCC to operate) but couldn't remember what I did.

    It is definitely not press and hold the stalk (like other Toyota models), I tried that again today. Unfortunately, I won't be able to test the "push stalk forward" as I just dropped the car off for repair and its going to be weeks before I get it back (unless its totaled, which they said will be close).

    In case its totaled, if anyone comes across a low-mileage 2015 Gen 3, with the technology package let me know!
