We just got a new 2019 XLE AWD-e in Seaglass Pearl. I downloaded the "ToyotaEntune" app to my iPhone and tried to create an account to use the app. When I entered the VIN, hit 'Continue', and accepted the privacy policy, the app says "Error - Please ensure you have entered the VIN correctly and your vehicle is Entune or Entune App Suite capable." This same result obtains whether I type in the VIN from the registration or use the camera app from the sticker.

My wife spoke with Toyota tech service, who looked their crystal balls and said that this particular model of Prius is not compatible with the Entune system, and it is not possible to load apps to the car. A call to the dealer confirmed this.

Nowhere on this forum or elsewhere have I heard this claim. Can any of you who have the same car (in any color, duh!) tell me if Entune works, and how did you get it working?

Everything else works as expected: FM, bluetooth audio, USB audio, etc.

    Many thanks in advance,

    Bandicoot

Did you download the correct Entune app? There is Entune and Entune 2.0. I'm not sure which one the 2019 has. I assume it has the newer 2.0 version, but I could be mistaken. There are two different apps, one for each version and they will not work with the other version. Make sure you downloaded the right one.

The entune in majority of 2019s is the same unit as 2016 so they are old. The entune app will be no good.

So, the question is, which iphone app is used to add apps to a 2019 Prius?

From what I read around, the newer entune has a Linux based OS which operates much differently than the older entune head units. So the app is meant for the newer entune units. Although I say majority, I can’t confirm it is all since there are so many variations around the world, and I don’t know much about the 11” screen versions. It could possibly be all priuses.
