That's a GREAT price! I still have 6 filters left, and just change my oil about a 1000 miles ago.
But I won't need any more for 60,000 miles. Which is almost 2 years for me.
None of the Toyota filters I have used were collapsed. They weren't even that dirty.
With over 182,000 miles I only use about 1 quart of oil over 10,000 miles.

That's a crazy large amount of miles per year...

You should try the 20k mile stuff. You'd be an excellent candidate. You'd only need to change the oil 3 times vs 6....

Do you mean the inner wall comes apart somehow? Cus it's pushed over a sturdy steel tube with perforations. Just trying to understand.

20,000 is too much for me. I wouldn't trust that oil. I've been using Mobil 1 and Castrol for ages and know
    they are good oil.
It's starts getting dark around 7-8000 miles, but still pretty clean at 10,000 miles.
I probably could go a few thousand more, but not worth it.

I've been eyeing on those, still currently using the Mobil 1 revision A. The microns of the fram US does have a tighter filter media than mobil, will make the switch over soon.

Thanks! I believe I'll wait a few years and see what happens with OTHER peoples vehicles. :)
Plus, what is the cost? Unless it cost less than what their regular oil is, it's not worth it, at least to me.
Besides, the manufacturer decides/recommends when to change the oil. Until recently I never noticed
on the oil bottles how long the oil is good for. Maybe regular synthetic oil CAN go 20,000.
I believe it also depend on how you drive also.

I'll watch the video and read the article later... Thanks again! (y)

$35.xx at my local Walmart for 5 qt jug. Our 2012 has 27k some miles on it so I change it every year and still use the stuff. Theory, engine damage happens on starts, which happens a lot more on hybrids...

Longevity has also something to do with Total Base Number, ability of the oil to stay at certain pH and not become acidic from combustion products. TBN is high in the Mobil 1 0W-40 much loved by Mercedes Benz and Porsche, and even Mobil increased it with the "FS" formulation. (Old bottles did not have "FS" on them, and a lower TBN. Still set for 10k mi changes in those vehicles).

Now if you ever have trouble with your engine and (it shows as oil caused) Mobil has a good warranty for engine failure due to their oil. (Haven't heard anyone say so and try to use the warranty)....

I'm really skeptical, that Mobil Oil is replacing blown engines for anyone that shows up with an oil receipt. I'll stick to Toyota recommendation, miles or months, whichever comes first.

I understand that Amsoil was the first to make the 25k mile OCI claim, with warranty after the 2nd Amsoil oil change. Mobil 1 warrants as long as the oil was used within 5 years of purchase. (I think Amsoil changed their warranty to match but I have to go check to make sure). I've looked at the TBN of Amsoil Signature Series (25k mi change) vs Mobil 1 0W-40 FS (10k mi change), and they are about on par. So Mobil, being much bigger than Amsoil, isn't taking any chances with pushing the limits on oil change interval mileage wise. They are being conservative. The fact that they ran three vehicles with 20k mi OCIs, for 120k miles, tore down those engines, and found within new tolerances, no sludge/varnish, goes to show it works....

If you use a decent oil and filter, and change it early enough, any given engine will last.
    Not counting yugos... :)

True, except I'm lazy, and even though I wear gloves, I still come into contact with the used oil, which I hear may cause me to develop cancer. Now that, is not worth it to me...

The MINOR amount of oil you may get on your hands in nothing. And unless you are allergic to it,
it's NOT going to harm you. I used to think the guy next to me who used gloves was wimpy.
He made it look hard to get the glove on and off. One day I did try them, then I bought my own!
And I realized, he was wimpy! He didn't know how to put they on or take them off! :)
I keep a box in my trunk.

I'm lazy too, and antique, the less work the better.

Yeah but can you even imagine anyone collecting on that?

Picture the typical 3rd gen engine: if you never touch the EGR, drive it hard, a head gasket failure is pretty much inevitable. And when it hydro-locks and you've got an new window in your engine block: as long as you used Mobil or Amsoil religiously, present them with the receipts: they're going to pony up for a brand-new off-the-shelf engine and dealership install?

Well, with 120k miles the engine still looks new. Maybe what, 1million, start to show signs of wear. Other things break down. Maybe you throw away the car because everything else has fallen apart, before engine trouble.

ASR, my mom's a two time cancer survivor. It's all in the genetic predisposition. I can't take that chance. Besides, the skin cancer type are not pleasant pain wise. Since it is not as invasive, you may only get local anisthetic....

I looked at some online reviews, and Royal Purple came out well up the list, but nobody stocks them around here. I did buy the XG10358 based on the claimed micron rating, and I'll change the oil when the Fumoto oil drain valve and the filter wrench get here.

It is a marketing tool like a sweepstakes contest. It would cost them very little if they found a few owners who met all the limitations of the warranty. They will select the owner(s) to cover and make them sign a contract and use it to confirm that their warranty is real.

I have a friend who won the Reader's Digest contest. The contract was extensive. He had to have an income and no criminal record and agreed to provide positive testimonials and other marketing appearances. That would obviously excludes drug addicts, drug dealers, pron stars and the like.
