First thing I told my dealer was, "I think I can stomach the Blue or the charcoal best" but honestly, I don't like any of the colors offered.

I do really like that Tangerine Pearl offered on the C... And also, that Tidepool Blue Pearl.... And even that bright green one.

Why nothing exciting on the LE ? Or for that matter, even the Limited ? ....not that I'd have paid that much more for just a paint color.

Wish I had a connection with some experience and a spray booth.... I'd go with a full body Plasti dip in ZTG (green / gold) color shift.

I am actually going to do the roof of my blue Prius LE in bright Pearl white for multiple reasons. If that goes well, I might eventually Plasti dip the whole thing (and definitely not white). If not, I'll peel it off and try again

We had other reasons for choosing the c, but I have to admit that the uh… “not-a-grandparent” palette has been a great bonus.

I will mention that the Tangerine Splash Pearl is not easy to maintain. It’s 3 color coats over the primer, then clear over that. So a rock chip requires a lot of effort to undo. It also cost an extra $400.

Toyota sells “touch up paint” but it’s a weird formulation of only the topmost color layer, which is just a greenish sparkle tint. Sure, it’s the right stuff to seal the tear and prevent further damage but it looks terrible. I had to get a body shop to make touch-up quantities of the base orange and middle effect layers, and it’s time consuming to apply.

Agreed. And I don't get that ? I'm an artist, photographer. So to me, color matters a LOT ! If it really costs that much more to offer fun, interesting colors, then why not just charge more for custom colors ? Their are definitely folks that would pay a nice chunk more for a nice, noticeable color.

for toyota, i think it's manufacturing efficiencies. they pride themselves in process management. they do not like offering anything as an option, and only think outside the box when forced to by competition.

they also know that while offering colors for extra money could be profitable, it can also bring negative press.

I only liked the red. But not enough to drive a red car. So, mine is white. I paid the four hundred extra for a boring color. I love the moonstone interior and since I spend more time inside than looking at the car from the outside, I am happy with that.

Anybody find they stop-and-stare, when they espy a nice non-metallic paint job? They look like purty jelly beans. :)

I personally enjoy seeing a nice metallic one. Very few seem to include a good job with metallic flakes in the color.

I am so ready to see gloss paint come back. Really done with metallic and pearl finishes. Where’s a Scion when you need one?

Worst is BMW. I looked at them before buying Samantha. The forecourt had dark blue, dark grey and black cars ONLY - about 20 of them. The holding yard had about 30 new cars (and used ones too) - a few white, one red, and one quite nice mid blue (on an M3) - but quite a dull red and the rest were boring dark grey, dark blue or black. I asked about other colours - "yes, you can pay for "M" special colours on a special order" - for a special $$$.

Photo - "1" is the forecourt, "2" is the holding yard (other area is cars being serviced).

EDIT - PS - I want a yellow one - this is the Japanese on-line brochure:

Well, I think that last one is not "yellow" but either chartreuse (one of my favorite colors) or lime green, that just looks more yellow in this screenshot. I LOVE chartreuse, and lime green... and most other greens as well. But I hate straight yellow. Would not own a yellow car. But add just a hint of green to it, and Bam ! Then I'm all in :)

Honestly, whether a paint job is non-metallic, or heavy metallic, glossy, satin, or matte, none of these things matter as much to me as the "color" itself. I STRONGLY prefer secondary colors such as greens and oranges. I also like color shifting paints (or plasti dips) as well as tinted chrome wraps. In a nutshell, I want my finish to jump out and smack you :) I don't want to lose my car in a crowded parking lot. I'm constantly mind boggled when I see really cool cars, in really boring colors ! Like why in the heck did you buy a corvette, or a Tesla, if you wanted to "blend in" ! If I could afford a car like that, the finish would be like 180 decibels loud ! ....whatever the heck color I chose :) lol

A guy in my hometown had a Corvette. IIRC it was a bold copper colour, and he had masked the front off with vertically diagonal line, about mid-way along the hood, and painted everything for'ard of that a mat black. (y)
