Couple questions. Going to look at a 2005 Salsa red

    So I happened across this in my search. I've never seen another one in my search radius this color. For a cheap commuter this would do what I'm looking for. I've been on this forum for awhile reading up on these cars trying to get info as I'm going back and forth between prius and HCH 5 speeds reading what people have to say.

    I was informed stay away from pre 2006 cars but I love this color and it's only 2004/5. Do ALL 04/5 cap at 299,999 miles? It's got nav but no backup. I know only the higher resolution can support it could the MSD be swapped from a 07+ to add camera? Also does anybody know what those wheels are from and would they effect mpg not being 15s with LRR tires. Looks like corolla wheels.

    That's an interesting car. Definitely not OEM leather on the seats. And the entertainment centers in the headrests are certainly not OEM. Center console has dark gray leather lid instead of beige. Probably been replaced at some point by a lid from a gray interior car. Power seats? Not in any Gen 2 I've ever seen, so, if true, someone did a lot of aftermarket work on the car. I wonder if the seats were transplanted from a different vehicle. If so, I'd be interested in knowing the source, because they look pretty good. I think it's a good looking car. There's nothing wrong with the 2005 models. IMHO, they're practically indestructible beasts. You probably want to get a history on the HV battery tho. If original, it's going to need replacement very soon.

    And...at 235k miles, front wheel bearing hubs are certainly a consideration.

    Those are aftermarket rims on 17” tires. Yeah there’s a few aftermarket add ons like leather, carbon fibre-like accents, the rear seat entertainment system and the 17” alloys.

    Yea seats are manual you can see the pull handles. Looks like the center started peeling so they ripped the fabric off leaving bare plastic. Lots of neat looking options. Somebody definitely went out of their way to make this one stand out on an already rare color. It's at a rock lot and those guys aren't always the smartest at labeling options. I've been looking at alot of 200k plus cars. The HCH I was eyeing before this had 310 so I had already factored in battery replacement from greentec the 8.0aH cells.

    I'm curious with those miles should I consider changing the cvt fluid or leave it alone. It's been our experience with Nissan Xtronics that changing the fluid actually accelerates the chain problem causing cvt judder. I rebuild them weekly so I know they aren't like a typical trans where you don't want to flush them or you'll wipe out what friction material is in the fluid.

    I don’t know about the HCH, but the Prius will run like new if you replace it with a new OEM battery. As long as the rest of the car is fine (interior and suspension), I wouldn’t worry too much about the mileage. Just set aside some money for replacement in case it happens.

    you could. Note that the Prius has a planetary gear setup not a cone & belt so you are just lubricating gears.

    That's a little strange to be called a cvt but looks like a transfer case inside

    It’s basically to simplify. Toyota calls it the Power Split Device.
