    I hope you enjoy your '07, I wish I trusted the Gen 3 Prius enough to recommend a '10.

    If you do get one, strongly consider getting the EGR system cleaned.

    The pistons and piston rings were upgraded to potentially mitigate oil burning that seems to be common in prior year models.

    Toyota updated the plagued Gen 3 engine with new internals; specifically new pistons and piston rings.

    Search - Burning oil, EGR, Blown head gasket.

    Your Gen 2 Will run longer.

    i'll read. thanks all for the heads up.
    i was looking to get a used '10 at auction for the wifey cause she's growing on the prius. buuuuuuut i'll wait it out and stick with what we have for now.

    if you can find a low mile gen3 that you can afford, there are things you can do to mitigate these problems
    or, you could look for a nice 2009

    The last year of gen 2 (2009) and gen 3 (2015) seem to be the most reliable Prius models to get, in comparison to other years in each generation. If Toyota follows the same pattern, the 2021 gen 4 should be very reliable as well.
