Dead HV

    I just had a basically drained HV battery dropped off today to look at. The two furthest cells apart 1 & 28 are 7.3 volts the rest are all 6.5 volts. I'm going to start tackling the battery on friday. The battery came from a 2005 Prius with 120k miles hopefully it's still got the capability to be charged back up to spec

    I guess my next question is........... can there be a faster way I have 4 B6AC chargers?
    Another question to this is as many hybrids that I repair and replace HV batteries and cells what would be a better charger for my use I need to upgrade as I'm getting busier?
    Pictures and descriptions of charger/dishargers would be greatly appreciated

    Obviously the Gen 1 is it's own beast with 38 modules, but the Gen 2 and 3 could use the same charger if you're removing the battery from the car for charging. The big difference for in-car charging is the different harness/plug required to run the fan. If you have your own bench setup, you could have a Gen 2 fan do all the cooling flow, regardless of what battery you're charging. It would just be a matter of ductwork.

    I've looked a few times for high voltage DC chargers, but I have yet to find something else that's reasonably priced with enough voltage variance to cover all the possible batteries. I found one that covers 215-265 vdc, but it runs at 0.1 amp, less than 1/3 the amperage of the Prolong. The advantage of the Prolong is it's pretty much automatic in maintaining a steady current charge regardless of voltage and it's a clean setup. A lot less chance of juicing yourself. I just don't have the time to build my own. I just have this semi-fear that I would build something with the range I need for voltage and current, then have it burn my place to the ground...........

    Ty sir I would benefit more buying one and removing the batteries. It only takes 20min to remove anyways without removing the seats

    If only I could link up 6 cells at a time with my b6ac chargers and not cause a battery failure

    Don't HA have a professional-grade charger that will do all sizes of Toyota batteries?

    Sharnold I'm not sure if you would be interested but my friends have a shop called Daytona hybrids in Titusville Florida. I'm sure if you called them they would be able to help you!

    I actually build my own HV batteries I almost half way through charging this one with the small chargers
