Hello, I am in Austin, TExas. My 2002 Volvo is old now and I need to buy a car. Want to spend less than 20k. Interested in Prius but don't know which year I should focus on. 2017 or 2018? I am looking at Prius 2. I'm interested in the safety features. I also like the car with some power to merge onto highways or pass cars. Thoughts?

    Thanks

    welcome!
as to power, both years are the same. but you should test drive one to see if it meets your needs.

and make sure its in power mode, they are designed for low pollution, not acceleration

Cool thanks, any major differences between 2017 and 2018? I am finding that some 2017 are more expensive than then 2018's.

During 2017, there were improvements to the headlights from 2016. Also, 2017 had changes to the safety features included, some changes early in the year, others part way through. As far as I know, 2018 was the same as late 2017, but depends on the trim level of the actual car. You need to carefully check the actual car to see what is installed.

Cool thanks. ok, is there a big difference between Prius 2 and 3? I've seen the list of changes but don't know how those translate to real use on a day-by-day basis. For example, I saw a Prius 3 from 2017 that is more expensive than the 2018 Prius 2, even though the 2017 model has slightly more miles.

i think if you go to the toyota owners website, it will tell you what each package includes. whether the additional features are worth it is a personal decision

I thought there was a TOYOTA website someone referred to where you could do that?
