If you are an Austin TX resident, or work in Austin area, Austin Energy has a program called "Plug-In EVerywhere" that allows you to charge at 800+ EV stations throughout Austin for $4.17/month ($50/yr). These stations are also powered by 100% Texas wind energy, which is pretty cool. I was able to complete the signup in less than 24 hours, due to not being an Austin resident and not having an account with Austin Energy.

For more information about Austin Energy's rebates and resources, go to https://austinenergy.com/ae/green-power/plug-in-austin/plug-in-austin. The sign-up form for "Plug-In Everywhere" is at Plug-In EVerywhere Subscription Form - Formstack.

That's very cool. We have tons of windfarms down here along the gulfcoast with more going up. Lots of wide open spaces with little to no NIMBY issues.

I didn't realize how big wind energy is in Texas! I didn't know they were installing wind farms along the gulf coast, but I have seen sites out west towards Fort Stockton as well as a massive number of turbines up towards the panhandle. Glad to see renewable energy making an impact!

Wow, that's great. I have Is this unlimited charging you can use or there is some limit.

I wish we have something like that in our area. I have not yet seen a single charge station in our area. I charge at home and it cost me $1.29/charge every day. $4.17/mo would be virtually cost free for me.

Sweetwater Texas, out in the middle of nowhere, has some spots where you can see to the horizon in every direction and there is nothing but wind turbines, cactus and cows. :)

Hosting it at the COTA is nearly worth it alone. Wx at the time of year though can be very (y)or (n) for an outside event.

Wow, I had no idea there was a big event like that in the area! I drive past COTA on my way to work. I'll have to put it on my calendar and see if I can make it to take pictures and video.

I believe it is unlimited, but only at participating stations in the city of Austin. Elsewhere, have to pay the standard rate. There are ChargePoint stations located in a shopping district across the street from me and the regular rate is $2.00/hr.

I think the big turbine farm I saw on my way to Colorado was in Sweetwater. It was absolutely amazing to see them all and led to quite a conversation with my spouse on how much energy the entire site was generating at one time, as well as how do they decide which ones to turn on at any given time.

That is definitely a fantastic deal, can the majority of Americans ever appreciate the value of Hybrids and EVs? You are paying less than the average American might pay in one week. I guess the critical question
is: are they everywhere, convenient for use. Here in my area, there’s a free charger in Auburn to the rear of
a PO building. No other cars parked in a fairly large lot and I can see no other useful activity in the area. ???
