I read on another forum that the fit and finish as well as overall build quality of the Primes is superior to the standard non plug in Prius. Is this true?

I was under the impression that they were essentially the same aside from the obvious differences.

I don't recall reading anything about that. There's a few nicer features but they come from the same factory and are the same vehicle.

It's possible the extra sound insulation makes it feel like a more premium vehicle and thus give the impression that it's better built?

The Primes have more insulation than the regular Prius?

Than some of the trim levels of the regular Prius, yes.

The base LE/Two had less firewall sound insulation than other Prii trim levels.

The Four/Four Touring/Limited have "front door window acoustic glass" (aka double paned driver and front passenger windows).

The Prime has the acoustic front door glass as standard equipment. I don't know if it's the 17" alloys on the Touring but I found my Prime to be quieter than our 2016 Touring model.
