I got the 5500k hid kit from TRS almost 6 months ago. I got the relay harness. It worked for about a month before giving me issues were the lights wouldn't come on or intermittently. I contacted them and they replaced some parts but it still didn't work. They gave me a harness that plugged directly into the vehicles headlight connectors. But that started having issues too. One light would come on and not the other. It wouldn't follow a reliable pattern either. Sometimes the driver's side and other times it was the passenger side. So I took it out and put the relay harness back in and properly grounded it. And yet still the lights don't light up reliably. Is there anything else that can be done? Or is this a lost cause?

I had the same problem (& went back & forth with trs) & after putting this cheap ones in I never had the problem of not-igniting nemore /

Is the light output worse on the cheap bulbs?

nope, same thing if not better /
I was loyal to trs for close to 15 years (& never had a problem with the warranty stuff), but the quality just went downhill /
but I have to admit, out of the 3 pairs of the cheap ones, I had to exchange one pair because of flickering /
(still better than exchanging every pair out of the three trs pairs plus needing to get two ballast replacements from them)

So I tried the cheap bulbs. They would not stay on. They turned off while driving. I am beyond frustrated. I didn't do much money in this hid kit only to have it give me endless issues

    odd /
check your harness (yeah, I had one of the trs harnesses failing, too....), the ground connection; maybe the connections are slightly lose & vibrations lead to the bulbs not staying on /

Are there any symptoms I should look at? All connections are good. I don't know what else to check

nope, no outside indications at all /
I switched pretty much every single component of my hid-setup until I measured if there's ne throughput in the harness /
nothing went through, switched it for a spare one & everything was back to normal /
but I have to say that mine wasn't working intermediantly, mine wasn't working at all nemore /
    what about your ballasts?
    are both sides affected?
did you switch things left to right & versa?

    Check your ground.

There was a bolt on the frame that I used but I had to scrape the paint off to make a good connection.

I used the bolt under the coolant. The is something from the engine already there grounded. So I thought that would be a good spot. But to no avail

Same problem here... thought I was buying the best so I would not have to worry about replacing. In my case , it was my ballast. One side went out. Replaced it with something local. No issues as of yet.

I'm just super sick of pulling things out and trying to put it all back. So I'm going to send it back and they will test each product and see if it's all working. Then replace what they need and ship it back to me

I had a similar issue. Ended up being the fuse melted and wasn't making good contact. This was after swapping ballasts from side to side and getting new bulbs from TRS. Now I carry a few extra fuses with me. It was the fuse thats on the harness. I remember I tried to flick my lights on and back off to get both sides to turn on. Sometimes only one side would turn on. I had to pull over because both lights were off and it was dark. I had this girl pull up next to me and ask if I needed help. I was too embarrassed/heated and I said its ok I got it. Went to look up to say thanks anyways and my jaw hit the floor, felt like Jim Carrey in the Mask. One sexy lady !
