First time PHV owner : questions.

Hi all,

I just acquired a 2018 Prius PHV yesterday. This is my first time with a Toyota and with a plugin vehicle. I have a few silly questions that I hope y'all can help with:

1. Is there any way to switch the clock in the dashboard to 24h? I'm not American, and I find 12h clocks weird and jarring ;-) #firstworldproblems
2. What is the difference between "EV Mode" and "EV City"? I haven't had a chance to try any fast roads, but around town they feel exactly the same. The dealer told me that the city version should lighten the steering, but I can't tell any difference.
3. I've paired my phone with the car, and it works for making phone calls, but when I try to switch the audio source to Bluetooth it sits on "Loading..." forever. Is this a known problem? The phone works fine in other (non-Toyota) cars.
4. What's the smallest number of Android apps to utilise the largest number of free charging points? (both in terms of finding them and using them).
   
5. I note that there's an option to let the car access the internet though my phone. What does it use this for, and how much data does it use?
6. Trying to make the satnav map less cluttered and more readable, I turned off lots of things in settings, including street names. Yet they still show on the map. Am I missing something?

Thanks, found the clock setting (for some reason by default that menu starts in the middle - I had scrolled down, but had missed all the options available by scrolling up!)
EV City feels a tad pointless; it feels like "we have a spare button here, we need to put something on it". Maybe it satisfies some regulatory requirement somewhere.

The bluetooth problem remains a mystery - I've had to resort to using a 3.5mm cable, which feels a tad old-fashioned in 2019. And, presumably related, I still can't get the car to see the internet via my phone. But hey, I'll replace my phone before I replace my car, so maybe that'll help ;-)

After a long night drive this weekend, I am in love with the adaptive headlights. My only criticism is that on a clear road (i.e. the full beam is being used), the throw into the far distance isn't actually that great. Possibly that changes with the different beam pattern that's supposed to kick in above 75mph, but one can't legally drive above 75mph in the UK ;-) And seeing further ahead, and less to the sides, would be useful from about 50-55 on British country roads. I think this is a "buy the dongle to change this setting" setting, so I might have to do that...

 

Thanks - glad I'm not alone. Sadly it's an every time problem for me (with a Nokia 7.1), so just repairing doesn't help.
I've resorted to pluggin in a 3.5mm jack (my phone still accepts those!), but it feels very 2005 :-(

Incidentally, has anybody else found that the bottom half of the rear window is exposed to muck from the road, but hidden from rain, and thus gets really dirty really quickly?

 

In Europe we don't get the big vertical "I saw a Tesla and figured if my screen was the same shape it would be as good" screen. From what you and everybody else I see seems to say, this is a good thing! But yeah, the satnav is terrible but there's nowhere sensible to mount a phone to use Google, so we live with it ;-)

Hmm, my issue is less with aim and more with beam pattern, which won't be adjustable in the same way. I've actually been really impressed with the aim, both in terms of levelling and with the adaptive full beam system, which (apart from the aforementioned lack of throw) is amazing!
