Absolutely no way would I ever think about texting while driving. Only complete idiots do that and I see them all the time. Guess what? They aren't using a phone older unless you call their hand a phone holder.

As for talking, with bluetooth, it's not any more distracting than talking to your passengers. I assume you do not engage in any kind of conversations while driving. I come close to that because I do tune out anyone who's talking when traffic gets heavy and never do give them my full attention. Driving is job one.

The only mount I've found so far that attaches well is this one:

I have a tablet in it right now, but it can hold my phone. My issues with others are:

Vent Holders (my 2nd choice) = Haven't found one that reliably stays in the vent and I'm not fond of blowing hot air onto my phone in the winter

Suction to the Dash = There isn't a really good flat spot on the dash to get a good attachment. I could glue a flat pad to the dash, but I've always had trouble removing those without damaging the dash.

Cup Holder/Car Seat Mount = Haven't really tested these, because I use my phone for navigation and don't want to have to take my eyes off the road and look down. However, its not an issue for you, I suspect the car seat mount is likely to be more stable than the cup holder type.

My dash has a couple of poorly repaired parallel rectangular gashes where, it appears, the previous owner carelessly removed something -- probably an IPass or EZPass or something of that kind.

No, not on a Gen 2 Prius. It's very useful on those. The 11.9" one on the Prime is one of the worst interfaces I've ever seen.
