Happy Sunday folks. Sharing this just posted PHEV 101 video (3 minutes). Good to watch yourself or show folks that ask "what's a PHEV".

    Good quick summary!

They mentioned specifically a 70Km EV range; wonder where that particular number came from. Good as any number I suppose, but strangely specific for an otherwise generic description.

About correct for a Honda Clarity PHEV, FWIW...

After watching it again I heard "up to 70 kilometers".

    Yes.

Not a super-important concern; just seemed oddly specific while the rest of the video seemed so general.

I presumed 70km were based off of whatever production PHEV vehicle was highest amount of ev distance. But after doing a bit of math conversion - the Volt's EPA gets over 80km .... so that's not it either - so who knows.

EREV is a marketing term, not a category, approach, or configuration.

The definition itself has changed over the years, which is confirmation of that.

.... or start/stop being a hybrid .... At least that's what the badge said on the side of the 1st Chevy Malibu with start-stop

That was actually a mild hybrid. A weak one, but it did have regen braking, and a little bit of assist.
The second generation one had the eAssist dropped during the refresh when GM introduced a more efficient engine and transmission combo. It also got start/stop with a second 12volt.
