Oh no! I did check the coolant resovoir in IG-ON and didn't notice any fluid movement, hopefully just the pump if it's inverter related. And with the code reading troubles I have no idea what is wrong with it, if I plugged in an OBD adapter prior to this I got the red triangle most times with nothing being able to connect to the ECU, except for one person with a Mini VCI who has said his cable has stopped working.

Their system was down? Sounds like they're scamming you! It's time to show them how much of a world of hurt consumer protection laws are going to put them in if they don't stop BSing you! ---> Consumer rights & guarantees | ACCC

It does sound like a bit of a cop-out, but I'll take them at their word for now. They aren't charging me for the attempt to diagnose and have rebooked it in for a few days from now. Very wary to even drive back and forth from the dealership though, so hopefully it's just this diagnosis plus one more visit to have it sorted.

You might want to confirm that there hybrid specialist is scheduled to work that day... I'm told that dealers are only required to have one of them.

There's a pretty solid clue. Some people would go ahead and replace the pump just based on that observation. Myself, I'd like to confirm it with a code. Also, check the inverter pump fuse.

As for the "system is down" excuse, that gives me flashbacks to trying to get a driver's license or get our phones fixed in Honduras. But reading trouble codes doesn't take a system. It's just an industrial grade laptop.

My WAG is a problem with the Skid Control also know as the ABS Computer. You need codes to be sure. When that computer fails it produces "U" codes which are can bus communication errors. Those errors can make it harder for code readers to work.

Mini VCI cables are cheap Chinese knock offs that sometimes work and some times don't. The best cable I have found is a Tactrix Openport 2.0.
It's American made and simply works when other cables can't. Do not buy a copy or from any site other than Tactrix. The Tactrix cable costs $169 or about the same price dealers charge for one diagnosis.
