    Morning all,

I think need a new battery as it only lasts about 1 week without being driven.
I have just been quoted £225!!
Are there any batteries that anyone can tell me that won't break the bank? Apparently he said it was a AGM battery and you could only use that.
I have just seen that a Bosch s4 155 will work just as well. Is this true?
    Thanks
    Simon

That sounds like a very good price if it's the Toyota OEM. If you're replacing the original battery, that'll give you an idea how good the OEM is. Not many can match it. Over here it has an 84-month warranty.

Not sure about the Bosch. I stick with the Toyota OEM. My wife's '07 still has the original 12V and Florida is death on batteries.

Oops!! Edited out my backwards currency conversion. Not a good price at all!!

Is Toyota not doing the fixed price battery replacement for £120 anymore?

The price quoted in Pounds equals about 292 US dollars.
I don't think that is a "good price" at all.

Not sure, I would have thought main dealer prices would have been extortionate, as they normally are in the uk anyway.

Do you have a link to the solution you refer to? I presume it's in the forum somewhere.

I guess you won't know unless you ask? FWIW, I always thought the dealer fixed prices for servicing were quite good.

We have an advanced search (which is currently working), were you can narrow the search to specific subforums (an example of a drop down subforum : "Gen2 Prius Care, Maintenance and Troubleshooting"). Add in a user name like @Britprius, and a broad term like 'battery', and a bunch of results may appear. Give it a try, you'll be amazed at what you might find.

Oops! I did it backwards. Thankfully, not too late to edit my mistake.

UK prices tend to be higher, quite a bit?

So rang toyota (Steve Eagal) and they quoted £90!!! I checked is it an AGM battery. They said yes. So I picked it up. Never thought of ringing main dealer as being in the motor trade previously they are always more expensive than after market sellers. In this case I was severely wrong. My advise for anyone in the uk, call the dealer first!

In North America lots refer to the dealership as "stealership", not always deserved. The dealerships have the know how, the correct parts, and it doesn't hurt to check with them first.

Odd stuff can happen too: buying oil filter for our son's Mazda CX-5, the first time it was $10 (CDN), the next time, maybe 6 months later, it was $15. I phoned them after, checking my bill, and they said there had been an increase from their wholesalers. Then the third purchase, a few weeks back: it was back to $10 lol.

I was also going through this dilemma with one of our cars until the point I bought another Prius. This new Prius had a VARTA Blue 12v 45ah battery that had the space for the ventilation tube as well. The battery was put in it 2 years ago and all is ok ever since. This battery cost 50% less than the OEM Yuasa AGM battery so if it lasts 5 years and I have to buy another, it is still worth it.
