Just use your fingers if your going to bleed the brakes also.

It goes by various names, basically a cube that mounts on a 3/8" drive ratchet wrench, locks into the pattern on the rear brake caliper piston face, and you then screw the piston in, clockwise IIRC.

Try googling "brake disc tool" with image search, look for something like this:

There's much fancier tools, multiple items that come in a case, run you around $100:

but the first picture is more than adequate. Especially considering in a pinch you can do it with needle nose plier tips. But it's awkward.

I probably would not use the cube.

I purchased one similar to the red box one, but with more accessory plates. $30.
I "think" I got it off ebay, but I can't honestly remember....
I replaced my rear brakes a few weeks ago, it was super easy to use.
Using that square thingy would have been a royal pain in the butt and hands!

Sad thing is breaks are fine just pulsating at high speed breaking. If I wasn't putting passengers in my car I wouldn't be doing them.

I probably could get away with cutting the rotors but for a few dollars more can get pads and rotors. That is sitting here waiting.
I figured harbor freight would have break kit but only had pusher. Yeah I did many breaks and never used that. Why when useing a screw driver was easier and faster.

just loosen the fluid valve and they push in. Probably should bleed if going to trouble and cost of pads and rotors.
it's very easy if you have two people......

Rear 3rd Gen Prius hatchback brakes screw in. Also, I'd be cautious about opening the bleed bolt without good cause, and would have the car in "invalid" mode.

Also, you need to be REAL careful to have the piston face pattern in "X" orientation, and well seated against pad thus. And it's good to check for brake drag after all is done, after a test drive.

Regarding those cased kits, my 2 cents: they are overkill; the simple cube is more than enough.

Rear has Parking break. They usually need to be twisted in.

Also ah no do not open bleed unless you want face full of break fluid and line full of air.

Allow fluid to flow back into reservoir. If fluid doesn't flow easy you probably have bad hose.

I had hose on mine.....I was putting all new fluid in..... if you need new brakes probably need new fluid.
I Did Not get a face full of fluid. Prius very easy especially the rear fluid change. I've done mine twice.
And yes I had it in invalid mode and I have Techstream.

Well with kit It would be easier and I would have tools to do other drivers breaks when they come crying to me.

Gonna do a fluid service to car as I'm gonna be there. It's extremely humid here 110% of the time so good to keep up on that.

All you need is the couple of bumps on the cube. Mount it on a ratchet, and in a minute you have it spun in. Simple and works on most any rear disk brake with parking brake integrated. The full-blown kits are maybe 10 times the price, and a solution in search of a problem, lol.

All they do is "maybe" make it so you don't have to press as you turn (which is easy to do, with the cube). I say "maybe" because the thread pitch of that tool needs to match the thread pitch inside the brake piston you're working on. And that capability comes with complexity requiring multiple adapters, where a simple cube would work for any and all.

That is exactly the one I have. Maybe I got it off Amazon? I really don't remember.
$15 is a good price. I guess I could look on Amazon and see if that where I got mine and
    the price I paid...

If you put a clear hose on the bleeder, and run it UP, then down into a clear plastic container,
you can see if there is air in the lines, and you'll see it flowing. Gravity keeps are from getting back
    inside...
