Prime Premium Not Charging

When you plug it in, does the green LED at the port come on and stay on? That's what it does if it's starting to charge. If it blinks a few times and then goes out, that means it is waiting for the next scheduled charging event.

Starting on page 170 in my manual is a lengthy section titled, "When normal charging cannot be carried out."

Since it happens right after driving, it may be that the battery is too warm and it'll charge once it cools down. However, the only time that it's prudent to charge right after you park is if you're leaving again soon. Not good for the battery to let it set long term all charged up.

Well, it occurs to me that there might be a problem with the EVSE cable. But if you can come back in an hour or so and make it work just by unplugging & replugging, that seems to indicate some condition with the car.

Process of elimination: if it was the scheduler, the green light in the port would blink at you. If it was the cable, you should get a fault light on it. If it was the outlet, you'd get no power light. The only thing I can think of that fits, is that the battery is too warm when you plug it in, but when you come back 1.5 hours later, it is cooled down.

Using the scheduler would alleviate this. It will also help your battery to last longer. Try using the scheduler for a while and see what happens. Set it for departure time and time it to stop about an hour sooner than you leave to be sure it finishes. My guess is that you'll come back to a fully charged car every time. If it happens again, driving home at 50+ mpg isn't the worst thing that can happen.
