My previous P II I had installed HID 4600K lights from iJDMtoy and was very happy with them.

Now I have another 2011 PII and of course the halogens are abysmally dim.

I was happy with the improvement the HID'S made on the last car, should I go with them again or try one of the thousands of types of LED's?

So far I have been recommended these types of LED's -- Katana , Lasfit, and Auhder.

Maybe the safest thing is to make sure I can return any LED that I don't like.... or go with what I know, the HID's, if I can still get the kit for the Prius.

I was told that some light will be lost due to the projector beam headlights if I go with LED'S. I'd be grateful for your experiences before I open my wallet :D

    Thanks for your input!

Based on my experience with LED vs HID on motorcycles, I recommend LEDs. I have had HID failures but no LED failures. Recently LED technology has made them as bright or brighter than HIDs. Also LEDs can be made to produce whiter light rather than a bluish tinge.

I’m also searching for a new kit. I will be going with 55w, 5000K HID kit.

    Yaesu,

Thanks for the information. I did decide to go back to using HID bulbs, this time 6K rather than 4600K. I ordered them from XenonPro.com.

Their advice was not to use the LED's in a projector assembly, they could have easily sold me LED's since they sell both. Previously I had good success with the HID's and no failures. So I guess the 'go with what you know' will be my mantra, I can return the HID's if I am not satisfied with them, if that occurs then I will try LED's, When I fit the fog lights to the car I will be using LED's in them.

Plus I'd like to have separate DRL's in the grille.

    Best wishes and thanks again,
