I have a 2012 Prius v wagon. It came with a standard mirror. I purchased on Ebay the TOYOTA PRIUS REAR VIEW MIRROR POWERED OBIHL3 AUTO DIM HOME LINK. I figured I could hit the local dealership for the wire harness that goes with it. However, the couple of dealerships I tried can't help me unless I have a part number. Apparently they are completely unable to extrapolate the part number from a vehicle that this would come with (God forbid). I sent an email more than a week ago to the Prius Chat Store with no reply. Anyone have a part number or and a suggestion as to help me make this happen? The hillbillies in this area don't know how to drive unless their brights are on full time, bless their hearts. Thanks

Hey Chapmanf, Thx for the reply. I looked at the diagrams. They show the harnesses under the seat. A pDF that I have shows the harness connecting at the mirror then traversing to the driver's side down the left A-arm then plugging into two different boxes. Am I seeing the diagrams wrong? I attached the PDF I went by. Thanks for your help,!

If you look at the name of the part, it says WIRE, ROOF, #1.

Try clicking "full diagram", and when you are there, "View More Images". The image that shows the #82171 harness might be about the eighth one in the set.

You really don’t need a new harness because you either add one wire for switched 12v or just use full time 12v and ground that is already in the maplight. I did the second method. The mirror draws about 6ma except when activated by the pushbuttons or when it is changing dim.

To add a switched 12v run a wire from the inside fuse box with an add a fuse up to the maplight area. The 12v and Gnd are up there and can be accesed with t-taps.

To use just the 12v and Ground just t-tap in the maplight area. If you were going to park it at the airport for a month, just toggle the homelink’s on off button. I have left mine for almost two weeks with the mirror on with no ill effects.

Finally don’t forget the wire cover from the mirror to roof.

RJParker, Thanks. I might try this today weather permitting. I will check out the avionics shop & see if they have molex connector for this. If so, it won't take long to make this work & look custom. I don't plan on using the plastic wire cover. I think I am going to go with aircraft grade heat shrink. It will stand up to the summer windshield heat with not problem & have a minimal look.

There is already a cable and connector on the 20 Pin maplight, eg u3. So if you are going two wire up there and want a plug and play you would need the male and female 20 pin stuff.
