Congrats on the long life ownership!

High doubts the dealer would give much as a trade in, so work out
the details and numbers for replacing/repairing/prolonging the battery and then
private sale, keep in the family, or sale to family.

I am sure that baby wants to get more miles on it!

Wouldn't a new lease on life with new cells make more sense?

We need a new car now and I think we would like the new safety auto-stop stuff and all.

    Great!

If looking at used, make sure it has both ACC and LKAS (standard on all new Toyotas now) and look into the plug-n-play commai self-driving assist for around $1200. The down to full stop ACC ability is a game changer for heavy traffic situations (NoVa I'm looking at you!) and is worth the price of admission alone as per many adopter reviews.

On used, which years have full stop ACC?
...I mean I could see us getting the last v of 2017 or last PiP 2016 if they had that full stop ACC.

If you really *know* NoVA, we not only have traffic, we have one helluva annual car tax, so used car makes some dollar$ and $ense.

AFAIK, no v wagons have it. Gotta' go gen4 or rav4hybrid if wanting to stay hybrid. On used, look for safety pkg 2 using vin: Vehicle Specification | Toyota Owners or visually look at the right steering wheel for the ACC and LKS buttons. General rule of thumb for this pkg: 16-17's look more at higher trims while 18+ usually come standard.

Edit: another way to do this is use the fitment guide on the comma.ai website to see what model/years are supported. Now this is no guarantee as the individual vehicle may not come with the pkg but you will know at least that year and model qualifies. IOW, no wagons on it so commai won't work but I do know ACC was available on the v high end tech pkg. I think it's the early version which isn't full speed.

    @Tideland Prius ?

No Prius v has full range (or all-speed) DRCC. On RAV4 Hybrids, I believe all Gen 2 have it but for Gen 1, only the higher trims have it, the lower trims have “partial” range DRCC.

On Gen 4 Prius, all 2016 except the base Two had it. I think TSS-P was made standard in 2017. The 2017.5 add on was BSM/RCTA and ICS that was previously available on the Four/Four Touring.

No. All Gen 3s used the same PCS/DRCC system throughout its lifespan.

You think that is better than trade in?
I've called PriusHybridRepair once for inverter pump replace but did not use them.

    4 Toyota hybrid family. 1 3rd gen with 220k miles, 2 v wagons, 2019 Rav4 hybrid.

The Rav4 hybrid is nice and I bought one partially for the electronic helpers. Having driven 7k with them now, would never be without them. Though I don't use them in NOVA traffic, more interstate. A word of caution though, the MPG for the Rav4h is quite different from the fastbacks and even slightly less than my v in my semi-rural mixed driving. Heavier, bigger, more powerful (218 HP), 4WD.

We went out to a Toyota today...we think we like Rav4H LE w/ BSM add-on.

Amazing that they can get 40 MPG on that size SUV.
Brochure indicates everyone gets 10yr/150k HV Batt in 2020.
Mirai Gen2 to get 30% more range (not that we have any H2 here)
