When a thread has almost a thousand posts, it’s tough to stay on track the whole time;).

    That’s what I tell myself anyway(y).

    Resurrecting an favorite thread. LOL

Here is a fresh start on the GOM miles. My new 2020 LE was never charged and never driven in EV mode before I brought it back home. This is the GOM miles after very first full charge. Interestingly, the very first full charge took 7.13kWh. That is very high compared to typical 6.5kWh I usually need using OEM L1 EVSE. Maybe sitting on a dealers lot for several months without any charging causes self discharge of the traction battery? The ODO and Eco Log indicates the car was driven 70 miles HV only over span of a few months before this full charge.

I would suspect the system was performing some battery conditioning after having been on the dealers lot for so long, likely never plugged throughout that duration.

Interesting. Do you have any documentation on what actually the "battery conditioning" entails? Your suspicion is quite correct, the car was never plugged in at the dealer since they received it then with 8 mile ODO brand new car back in Dec 2019. So, for over two months it was not being charged, although there was a few brief HV driving (most likely test drive) over that 2+ months.

I have wondered the same thing.

As a side note, I'm pretty sure my car had rarely been charged when I got it and it had 22,937 miles on it. The EVSE was still in the bubble wrap and the efficiency history pages all showed mpg in the 40's and 50's except one month in the 80's and one in the 30's. I should have recorded the EV% before I reset the stats. RATS!! Most months showed some sort of miles/kWh but generally only about 3.x miles. Except December of '17 which was 99.9miles/kWh with 100% AC load. Weird!

Unlike your case of 23Kmiles of unknown, I have only 70 miles of unknown on my new PRIME. ODO corresponding mileage was dismal 23.5mpg. This can be easily explained by a lot of idling without driving on a new car. What weird is that it had no record of ever being charged or driven EV mode, yet the DM2 was showing 5.3miles/kWh. What does that mean? Is this a "Factory Reset" base line default value? I have never reset my previous PRIME (electric efficiency reset from the setting menu item), and I didn't record the number when I first got my previous PRIME.

Some EV's use that term for Thermal Management of the pack.

But in this case it's probably another word for Cell Balancing, which is bringing all the individual cells to the same voltage after the pack has finished charging to '100%'.
This can be done two ways.
Discharging the high cells individually (by making heat through a transistor) to the nominal voltage.
Or charging the low cells individually to the nominal voltage.

I'm not clear how often this routine is run after a full charge.
There must be a 'high/low from delta' that starts it.
Li-ion battery packs need each cell monitored.

A little history: the normal gasser Prius had 28 Panasonic prismatic nickel metal hydride modules—each containing six 1.2 volt cells.
The brains of that operation only looked at two modules at a time. It could not point to a bad module, (only a 'Block', two modules) and definitely couldn't read cell level voltages.

This is my daily path home ... 73km (45,3 EV-only miles) with only one electric charge .... but I think that would be good to get 60 miles all electric autonomy

yeah, I'm getting around 33-35 on full charge this summer depending on conditions and if traffic allows me to go slow enough (or if i get stuck in traffic)
