So my electrician is coming in Thursday and I know nothing about electric and he knows nothing about electric cars.

Here is my breaker panel - he said all I needed was 2 slots side by side to make it work for what I need (he thinks)

So - for quick charge what do I tell him I need installed and then what kind of connector do I need to buy for the car?

OR - should I stick with the 110 outlet (which is there) with a 10ft 12 gauge extension cord and not spend the money? I have overnight to charge the car - so no real issues for a 5 hour charge.

Thanks for your help and suggestions.

He can probably install a standard 2-pole breaker at the positions marked 15 & 17 on that panel. There may be reasons why he can't actually do this- all we have to go by is a photo of the box. But if all the other factors check out normal he will be able to set that up, it will look very much like the one above it at positions 16 & 18.

I'll leave the connector advice to others.

Honestly, if overnight ~5 1/2 hour charging is OK with you, save your money.

If in the future you feel the need to install a 240v breaker and outlet*, then do it.

    * If and when, install a NEMA 14-50R because they are a solid future proof choice.

Thanks Rob. He’s coming over tomorrow to look at the panel - if he’s going to give me a good price I may just do it because it’s rare he’s willing to come over in such short notice.

I should be asking him to put in a 30a 220V run with a 14-50R outlet?

    Then - if I wanted I’d buy a L2 charger that plugs into a 14-50R outlet?

    Thank you

@Rob43 is probably right. It sounds like you don't need it, but things can change. If the electrician offers you a great price, I'd go for it. He can put the 2-pole breaker in the slots @Leadfoot J. McCoalroller suggested. As for the receptacle, that would depend on the plug of the L2 EVSE you get. Many of them come with various types. The NEMA 14-50 is fine if that fits the plug. If you get an adapter from Rob, you and he can work out that detail and you can use your original EVSE which would be twice as fast as using it on 120V but not quite as fast as a 16A 240V L2 EVSE. But it would save you at least a couple hundred bucks.

I often come home from work, eat, and dash off to a meeting, so I want it to charge as quickly as possible. If your life is more relaxed, you're probably fine as you are and I'm just a little jealous.

    :) Thank you.

I’ll talk to him about $ then if I move forward I’ll hit Rob up for a doohickey thing-a-ma-jig to be able to use the Toyo thingy.
