The local Costco was beyond busy yesterday. I've been in Los Angeles all week for some meetings so I'm not talking about a store I regularly shop, but I still can't remember that store ever being so busy before. I'll be curious to see what's changed when I get home.

I went to Target yesterday and early this morning.
Employees were stocking shelves both days (which is typical).
Sunday morning 20% of the canned soups were gone. Monday morning 60% of the soup selection was empty.
Canned fruits and veggies were very sparse as well.

I don't see any panic buying, but I do see people stocking up so they don't have to go out in public areas as often.

First, I have the Pale Rider book on hold at my local library. Second, MY STOCK FUND is up as it is heavily invested in 3M>

 

Sure. If it's 24/7 and you wear one to bed and get up to change it every night. Most people usually only wear masks when they leave home and are exposed to the public.

 

I'm trying to find it so I can read it again......

 

Fewer travelers than usual at LAX today, or at least so it appeared from my gate area. Lots of masks on display.

SFO seems about normal though.

 

I had a late-night circuit roll yesterday and peeked into a local Walmart.

It was evidently a VERY BUSY shopping day and they were scrambling to refill cans, soup, and water.....but it wasn't "hurricane bad".

Despite the CDC's advice, I did see several people wearing masks.....and I have to shamefully admit that at least once I coughed convincingly into the crook of my arm just to watch them scurry to another aisle.

It's gonna be fun to see how the newsies spin election turnouts with this bug...

Long ago I used toilet paper rolls to bait termites, so I would go to market and buy cases. Other shoppers would get in checkout line after me with TP in their carts. It was somewhat amusing.

 

I made it home from my California gig and went shopping in an almost-rural township blessed with a big grocery store. It was quiet there, not many customers or employees. The only obvious shelf-shortage was bleach. We got the last gallon bottle of store-brand. There were still plenty of half-gallons and other variations.

We filled a deep cart, we are mostly in shape to hunker down for a while if we need to.

 

you can always use face masks in an emergency

Looks like SXSW is going to be somewhat attenuated this year, and I'm hearing that some schools are tinkering with distance learning for the balance of the year.....
