Scan Tool to write and program ECM in a 2013 Prius V

    Having to replace our ECM in a 2013 Prius V (wagon) after an accident...
    Any recommendations on a scan tool to write the New VIN number to the replacement ECM ??

    Are you repairing the car out of pocket, or is an insurance company? If it’s insurance, they should cover it. If you are paying for it, then the car is going to have to go to Toyota. Techstream is the only way I know of to program the ECM, and the programming info is proprietary property of Toyota.

    I have not done it, but apparently the immobilizer pairing is the important part which can be done with a jumper on the OBD2 and wait 30 minutes per this video. From their you should be able to go to Ready without the vin matching. As far as the vin, some of us have the "aftermarket" Techstream. I am sure the Snap On and Autel scanners work as well. Personally, if I could get the car to run, I would take it to an experienced locksmith or mechanic for the vin part.
