You don't have to take the arm off the strut. You can turn it enough to remove the axel.
At least that is the way I did it...

It's best to replace the seal. Not always needed. Depends if you don't mind pulling it apart again
    to replace the seal. :)

I always checked for leaks and hardness of the seal before removing the axel.
Then just pop it free and lift carefully so splines don't rub on the seal.

Purchased and replaced the seal. While removing the old one, it was coming out in pieces. Definitely needed to be replaced. It's all back together and no leaks!!! Thank you all for your input and advise. It really made a difference.

That's great! I am happy for you! Where did you get the seal, and what was the cost?
Did you by any chance get 2? If that one was that bad, the other is more than likely in the same condition.
It would be good to have on hand if it starts leaking.

Thank you. I picked it up at our local Advance Auto Parts, listed for $10.00 and change. With a discount, just over $5.00.

Everything is still great. Still no leaks, but there is single click noise each time accelerate and depress the gas pedal. Basically, speed up or slow down. It thought it might be connected to the new brake pads. All good there.

If you want to rule out the brake pads, place a piece of business card between the pads and the bracket clips. Road test the car and see if the noise goes away.

I did use brake grease when I installed them. I added a bit more when I reinspected. Click still there.

Grease will dampen the noise temporarily if the pads fit poorly. Placing a small paper shim (temporarily) for a test drive will confirm if the pads are truly the culprit.

I have also seen axles cause the noise you are describing.
