Well...it does on the "other" board....but apparently the mods don't want to do that...and this thread has clearly turned into that. I have seen threads moved there for *far* less...

No way has this thread turned into that. This is a solid informative thread about a technical topic, on which a few politically provocative individual posts have been made, and generally not affected the overall course of discussion.

To say the whole thing should be moved because of a few individual provoking posts that are out of keeping with its overall direction would be to invite sabotage of any thread anywhere and promise success to provocateurs.

Interesting article on anti-SARS-CoV-2 neutralizing antibody production among recovered COVID-19 patients.
Study: 8% of recovered coronavirus patients didn't develop antibodies - Business Insider

Apparently many patients previously infected by SARS-CoV-2 develop medium-low (17%) or low (30%) levels of antibody. And a small number of recovered COVID-19 patients studied (10 out of 175) never produced a detectable level of neutralizing antibodies. Although viral load data were not available, the levels of the antibodies were higher in older individuals than in younger people and also correlated with markers of disease severity (CRP and lymphocyte count).

The implication is that any serological antibody tests for testing previous infection must be quite sensitive to detect low titers of many recovered patients, and will miss altogether the small portion that never develops antibodies. Furthermore, the finding if confirmed will question long-lasting immunity hoped for those individuals previously exposed to the virus.

The non-peer reviewed paper referenced in the article above is found here: Neutralizing antibody responses to SARS-CoV-2 in a COVID-19 recovered patient cohort and their implications | medRxiv

    (1) This thread has far too much non-FHoPol information to be moved;
    (2) Mods? I thought this site had long ago shrunk to just one regularly functioning mod.

Well I thought I was alone in this (right! lockdown!) : Is coronavirus stress to blame for the rise in bizarre ‘lockdown dreams’? | Mary-Ellen Lynall | Opinion | The Guardian

How are your dreams these days? If they’re unusually vivid and bizarre, you’re not alone. Your housemates might not be interested in the content, but that’s OK, the internet is, with social media and online forums awash with people outlining in detail their “lockdown dreams”.

Some of these are clearly symbolic of our current daytime fears – difficulty breathing, trying to scrub bugs off our bodies, being trapped. But the virus and its consequences don’t always take centre stage. Some people’s dreams have entirely different distressing themes; others are finding that they are simply dreaming more, and that the dreams are more fantastical. It’s a strange irony that as our waking hours become more monotonous, our nighttime lives seem more varied.
    . . .

When I was in grade school and a particularly scary grandmother who published a local news paper and came to stay with us, I also had dreams of being thrown into a printing press. When we were in the cold war with nuclear weapons on hair trigger, I used to have some dreams of nuclear war. But this past week, I had at least one disturbing dream ... not a wake-up nightmare. Mostly I dismiss them but I remember they were vivid ... not memorable as I dismiss them as a curiosity.

I'm having more and more vivid dreams, but not scary ones so far, for whatever reason.

    Update 9 - 4/12/2020
Ok, I think finally we might have hit a peak. Both the U.S. and the state's I have been tracking have seen stagnation or a decrease in new case growths. I was most concerned about Florida, as they were the last to take serious action, but it looks like they may be decreasing as well.

I've also added charts for the growth in new deaths. If the peaks in new cases is a true peak (rather than an artifact of our testing rates), we should see peaks in new deaths soon.

However, just because we are at the peak doesn't mean we can let up on the lock downs. Washington has done the best so far, but it took roughly 2.5 weeks to get new case growth to back to what it was in late March. We probably need to add about 3-4 weeks of continued lock down past the peak before letting up.

A good point. While it was horrible for Jesus, he paid the price that we could not so we(believers) wouldn't have to go through the same. Death is not the end of the story... in fact it is the beginning of a glorious, eternal future. The only thing we need to put in the grave is our old sinful self - nail it to the cross.

I am OK, no need to run and hide like Bobby does. My future is secure and your could be as well. This discussion is very relevant if only you had eyes to see and ears to hear.
    Happy Easter

I love those who don't read it at all and have all the answers.

God owns everything and like the "land" he gave Israel, God also gave the "land" to our founders as they came in His name.

Excellent YouTube video, "Coronaviruses 101: Focus on Molecular Virology":

An hour long, it has a good mix of lay and technical terms and cites the source papers.

    POP QUIZ
    1. What is the role of the polybasic site in the spike protein in CoV-2 transmission?
    2. What are the pathways involved in CoV-induced membrane remodeling, and how do RTCs temporally and functionally coordinate various stages of the viral lifecycle?
    3. What are the biochemical activities and roles of the various proteins that form the replication-transcription complex, and how do they coordinate genome replication vs. transcription?
    4. How do CoVs maintain such a large genome and still have sufficient mutation rates for adaptation and trans-species movement?
    5. What are the functions of the CoV-2 assecory portions, and how do they impact the in vivo growth and virulence of the virus?
    6. Will CoV-2 infected individuals (or vaccines) mount protective long-term immune responses?
    Bob Wilson

    EXTRA CREDIT:
What is unique about the interferon response that makes CoV2 lethal?

There is a reason why I recommend "ignore user" for the abuser. We'll still have to deal with fallout from those who haven't "ignore user" that individual. In effect, we have an abuser who babbles nonsense because seeing any response is his reward.

So let me suggest quietly contacting those reacting to the abuser with suggestions to to 'ignore user' him. That way they know they are not alone and over time, the abuser becomes isolated from the feedback mechanism.

I do not recommend "report" on the abuser. I reserve that for those who attack my friends. Since I no longer see his nonsense, I have no basis as he is already on my "ignore user" list.

My "ignore user" maintenance practice is:
    • check in a week - sometimes they 'get a clue' and reform or go away.
    • check in a month - this usually exceeds their endurance and often they stop posting.
    • check in a 3-6 month interval - just waiting for them to wander off to bother others.
The abuser's goal is like a social virus: highjack a technical thread for the abuser's goals. Since I've already added two empirical posts related to CoV2, I'm not too worried about also sharing how we can 'antibody' the abuser. The key is shunning the abuser because any attention feeds their abusive posting behavior. For example, ever deal with a toddler throwing a tantrum:
    • ignore them and they'll eventually revert to sobs looking around for attention
    • any response, positive or negative, sets them off again (there have been enough already)

Also since the conditions are not met the promise to heal does not apply. Did I totally miss your point or did you not follow the logic in the promise?

From the crew of the aircraft carrier Theodore Roosevelt, one sailor dead today, four others in hospital.

The deceased tested positive on March 30, then was removed from the ship and put into on-shore isolation. Found unresponsive on April 9.

585 crew members known positive as of yesterday.

Anyone hazard a guess at total onboard? I looked a bit without success. Maybe 2000~2500?
