Oil leak on plate next to exhaust manifold

    Thank you. I don't know why they say you have to remove the wheel. It's not that hard to reach, although it may be harder on a Prius. What sort of adhesive do most DIYers use? I should have the new switch here by Monday the 20th.

    I used permatex 243 on the PCV valve threads. It's technically a thread lock, albeit not too strong nor "permanent". It's similar to 242, except works better if there could be slight oil residue. Which is pretty much a certainty.

    I don't really know that much about it though.

    Thanks for all your help. I got a new WVE switch and 50 mL Loctite 243 for about $24 total, and installed it last night. No leaks at all. Thanks for helping me identify the problem area.

    There is probably more room on the Corolla that's why you didn't need to remove the wheel.
    So what is a WVE switch? Wasn't it the oil pressure switch leaking?

    Yes, on the Corolla the back of the engine has a nice little gap in front of the firewall from below. The only obstruction is the axle itself. I just meant a WVE brand oil pressure switch. It's made by NGK/NTK.
