Sorry if this was mentioned already, but I just noticed that a new update is available for all years of Prime. Found it on Toyota Downloads That looks like it's an official toyota site. Has anyone installed it already or planning to?

I'm somewhat cautious but may eventually try (translation: I wait for earlier adopters to see what demons await).

lol, exactly what i'm hoping to find out. what's weird to me that it gives the update for 2019 and 2020 primes, but says it fixes problems in the 18 and older ones

I got a call from Toyota to come in for the software update on my 2017 prime. He said it had to do with the sensors getting confused when going through car washes.

i think i saw you post about that. probably a different update though. maybe for a computer that controls the sensors (ECM, etc.), probably not the infotainment system. I could be wrong though.

If it's for the sensors in the car washes thing then ive had the update. MY prime runs and drives just like new. No menu changes or small infotainment or MID changes I have found yet. I say, get it so the car is as safe as possible.

The sensor update is different from the infotainment update.

So they still haven't fixed that stupid 199.9 mpg display limit on the '17? How hard could that be??

edit to add: I followed the link and there is no update for the 11.6" display.

No update for 2020 PRIME LE. Even if there is I will ignore it, unless I find some bugs in current software (most likely Entune) that is causing problem. From the past reports, almost all of those infotainment update are minor bug fix that resulted in no functional improvements. For three years of owning 2017 PRIME Premium, I never updated mine. In fact, I never installed Entune app on my phone. I will do the same with 2020 PRIME LE even if update becomes available.

you're right not for 2017. but 18, 19, and 20 have updates available. makes me think the '18-20 11.6" hardware is the same, but different from '17.

I thought the '20 doesn't have entune anymore? thought i got an email from toyota that entune is going away and that's why the '20 can support carplay? Weird there's updates for the 11.6" screen only for the 18-20 and an update for the little screen only for the '17.

My 2020 LE requires Entune 3.0 in order to use some of default preloaded apps like, NPR One and iHeartRadio. I think Entune 3.0 is default universal app suite in all 2020 models. Not everyone uses iPhone. I did install it on my phone to check the functionality, but I don't think I will be using much, I may uninstall it.

We had Entune on our 2018 Camry and hated it. We were so happy when the Apple CarPlay update became available. (We already had iPhones). For us, CarPlay was a big selling point for getting the new prime. Haven’t bothered setting up entune on it.

Yeah, I never installed Entune on my previous 2017 PRIME. I don't really need infotertainment suite be that Entune or Apple CarPlay or Android Auto. All I need are BlueTooth and USB music capability. I don't use data plan on my phone, so any of those infotertainment suite that requires cellular data on the phone is unusable once I drive away from WiFi spot anyway.

Yeah, CarPlay would obviously be useless without a data plan. We basically use it for phone, messaging, Navigation, and pandora.

Update: I installed the update successfully on my vehicle using the 16TABDNA-AA01_1001.kwi file from the first post and the instructions from the PDF I linked above.

Warning: The T-SB-0236-17 PDF states that the update takes only 10 minutes, but it took over 30 minutes in my case. Don't get impatient and turn the car off or remove the USB.

After performing the update I'm now on version R10A8100.

I downloaded the update for the 2019 Prime Advanced JBL. The update installed without any problems on my 2017 Prime Advanced.
The update does take a little over 30 minutes. I've not observed anything different after the update.
Why did I install the update? Covid-19 related shelter in place boredom.

How do you do the update? Do you have to go to the dealer?

If you ask about the 2017 Advanced Prime, you are told that that there is no update for the 11.6 in screen. But there is one for the 2019 Prime. So they are telling a little fib, and the 2019 download works fine on the 2017 . The release notes seem to indicate that fixes are all about Apple stuff, and I am an Android person, so I might just pass on this. The last thing I want to do is brick the system for minimal improvements. (For non-techies: to "brick" is to irreversibly transform something with useful functionality into an inert brick)
